• To fight climate change many countries and companies are heavily invested in renewable / decentralised
energy systems (e.g. windturbines or PV-plants), battery energy storage systems or electric vehicles.
• However, this requires a digitalization focused education for realizing the future energy system

• But a transformation of our energy systems based on dynamically changing renewable energy sources
(the so called „Energiewende“) needs digitalization efforts by properly educated people.

How sustainable Smart Energy can be realized with buildings

•We are analyzing data of seven almost
energy self-sufficient residential buildings
constructed by a local utility for private
households/residents.
•Part of a funded project* named "Smart
City Living Labs" at our university.
•Goal: Assessing prosumer scenarios with
renewable energies and electromobility
using FIWARE enabling technologies.
•Such buildings are based on smart energy
approaches and are seen as an important
building block on our way to the energy
system transition.
