Priorities in order to preserve and increase soil health, and stop and revert soil
degradation:
- Promotion of sustainable soil management at all levels and in all land use types;
- Restoration/rehabilitation of degraded soils with focus on soil erosion, nutrient
imbalance, soil acidification, soil pollution, loss of organic carbon and soil salinity; and
- Enhancement of soil information by using state of the art methods of digital soil
mapping and advocating for having national soil information systems.
Call for investment on the promotion of sustainable soil management.
a pre-condition for achieving sustainable development.
Decision to proceed with the development of a
Regional Implementation Plan for a horizon of five years
3. ASP Implementation Plan
• The plan is for the region: no reference to specific countries
Successful experiences from specific countries are reported in Annex 2. These justify
the presence of those countries in the task force (stakeholders).
• Highlight on regional activities with reference to the global implementation plans
(important for fund raising)
• Implementation period: 2017-2021
• Activities should be realistic / feasible (time and budget). Do not be too ambitious
• Avoid repetitive activities: each activity should refer to only one pillar
• Details for each activities should be contained. Details will be added to each activity
during the implementation phase.
