3. - FAO will work together, in partnership with Gulf
Cooperation Council (GCC), in order to strengthen
the capacity of GCC and its member states to
collect, harmonize and disseminate official
statistics that can support evidenced based policy
related to agriculture and food security initiatives at
national and regional levels.
- The future collaboration FAO/GCC will focus on the
new technology (FENIX platform) implemented for
the new FAOSTAT system, and to introduce
CountrySTAT to the 6 GCC Member States
(Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and
United Arab Emirates) and RegionSTAT in GCC HQ.

4. - CountrySTAT’s objective is to improve access online to food
and agricultural statistics at national and regional levels.
- CountrySTAT is part of the FAOSTAT family.
- CountrySTAT centralizes, harmonizes, standardizes,
integrates and validates data on food and agriculture
coming from different sources.
- CountrySTAT: One Stop-Shop of statistical data, grouped
into Core and Local Modules (14 indicators), 41 key variables
in the Global Strategy, Agricultural Surveys and Censuses,
Statistical Yearbooks, Food Balance Sheets, Thematic
Modules and other types of data, which allows the creation of
different outputs, such as tables, charts and maps.

5. FAO is committed to the development and implementation of
integrated systems of data and metadata on food and
agriculture:
• At the global level with FAOSTAT, the world’s largest database
on food and agriculture, covering over 200 countries and
territories, and which constitutes today a reference for all users in
the world.
• At the level of member nations with CountrySTAT which applies
the principles of FAOSTAT at the country level. CountrySTAT is
designed as a unique window of information on food and agriculture
that is easily accessible on the Web, with statistical data of good
quality that can aid decision-makers in better, evidence-based
policy-making and greater efficiency in development politics.
