7. This photo shows a student who has just
completed a mindfulness activity.
First, students collected pom poms with their
toes and hands behind their back while a fun,
fast paced song played.
They had to bring the pom poms back to their mats.
Then, students sat quietly while calming
music played and made a design or pattern.
This was the mindfulness element.
Lastly, students kept one pom pom,
made a hump on their mat, and practiced
breathing by attempting to blow the
pom pom over the mat.
Deep breathing is another mindfulness practice.
8. Yoga Song (video)

Each class
period, we
practiced yoga
poses to 2-3
songs.
9. Secret Garden
“Shavasana” – Mindfulness
This is the point in yoga when students lay quietly. The lights are off, peaceful music is
the only sound in the room, and students visualize their secret garden (a beautiful
place they create and imagine).
