Position Title: General Manager

Job Summary
As the General Manager I served as chief executive of Nelson Bros. Ready Mix, Ltd. (NBR) and
R&R Trucking, Inc. (R&R), hereto refered to as “The Organization”; and, in partnership with the
Owners, was responsible for the success of said Organization. Together, the Owners and myself
as General Manager, assured the organization’s relevance and viability to the community,
customers, and concrete industry alike; the accomplishment of the organization’s mission and
vision; and the accountability of the organization to its various components.
The Owners delegated responsibility for management and day-to-day operations to the General
Manager, and I had the authority to carry out these responsibilities, in accordance with the
direction and policies established by the Owners. I, as General Manager, provided direction and
enabling to the Owners as they carried out their governance functions.

a) Assured the filing of all legal and regulatory documents and monitored compliance
with relevant laws and regulations.

a) Helped the Owners determine the organization’s values, mission, vision, as well as
short- and long-term goals.

facilitate policy-making. Recommended policy positions, formulated best practices
protocol, and implemented said policies through training and structure.
d) Kept informed of developments in human resources, ready-mix and Logistics
management and governance, billing, accounting, quality control measures,
production, operations as well as market, and customer development.
3. Management and administration
a) Provided general oversight of all the organizations activities, managed the day-to-day
operations, and assured a smoothly functioning, efficient organization.
b) Assured product quality and organizational stability through development and
implementation of standards and controls, systems and procedures, and regular
evaluation.
c) Assured a work environment that recruits, retains and supports quality staff and
employees. Assured process for selecting, development, motivating, and evaluating

5. Financing
a) Promoted programs (OSHA Training, Sales Training, QC Training, HR Training,
Management Training), services and products that are produced in a cost-effective
manner, employing economy while maintaining an acceptable level of quality.
b) Oversaw the fiscal activities of the organization including budgeting, reporting and
audit.
c) Worked with Owners and Accounting to ensure financing to support short- and long-
term goals.
d) Assured an effective sales development program by serving as the chief development
officer or hiring and supervising an individual responsible for this activity.

• This was a high-stress position based on full responsibility for the organization. I handled
detailed, complex concepts and problems, balanced multiple tasks simultaneously, and
made rapid decisions regarding administrative issues.
• I planned and implemented programs. Established strong and appropriate relationships
with Owners, employees, staff, vendors, customers, regulatory agencies, and city
representatives.
• I developed smooth and constructive relationships with executive colleagues, outside
agencies, organizations and individuals.
• I planned and met deadlines. It was required of me to maintain a flexible work schedule
to meet the demands of executive management. The hours were typically long and
irregular.
I conveyed a professional and positive image and attitude regarding the organization and the
ready-mix and logistic sectors alike. I further demonstrated commitment to continued
professional growth and development by attending seminars, conventions, and association
meetings.
Qualifications:
I have a Bachelor’s Degree, which was not required, and have over 10 years experience in
senior management positions. As General Manager, I demonstrated critical competencies in
