 Marine ecosystems are one of the largest
ecosystems on Earth.
 Is a place where an organism lives, and
interact with the environment.
 Organisms of the same species with an
ecosystem.
 Different populations interact with each
other.
 Tropical rainforests
 form the most diverse
 ecosystems on land.
 Emergent layer
 Canopy layer
 Understory layer
 Forest floor
 Emergent trees are usually about 50 or
60 metres tall. These trees have adapted
to survive in hot temperatures and strong
winds.
 The trees are more than 30 metres tall.
Birds, mammals, insects and reptiles
,leave the treetops and spend their
whole lifecycle in the canopy.
 This is the part of the forest made up of
trunks, branches, bushes and shrubs.
Predators like jaguars and snakes live in
this section, along with small mammals,
amphibians and reptiles.
 Belongs to invertebrates, fungi and
bacteria, most of which live on the
decomposing matter.
 Is very different from that of the
ecosystem. The tundra occupies the areas
around the Arctic Circle and some parts of
Antarctica. This ecosystem has low
temperatures and no light for half the year.
 Food webs all produce energy.
 There is an interdependence of each other.
 These interdependence form food webs are
made up of different food chains.
