3. The House of Assembly This is the place where the Members of Parliament meet to discuss the nations’ business and to pass the laws for the country. Each representative has one seat in the House of Assembly, it is sometimes known as the Lower House of Parliament. The House of Assembly along with the Senate and the Government General make up the government of The Bahamas Because The House of Assembly is the elected chamber, it is the most important body of The Legislature.
4. Political Parties Most M.P’s belong to a political party. Those that don’t are known as Independent Candidates and don’t belong to a party. Most party try to put their people in the Parliament so that their opinions can be heard. Usually the leader of the majority party has most of the seats in The House of Assembly, the leader then becomes the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister’s Party is Known as the Government.
