Re: Letter of Recommendat¡on for Emma Meyer
Dear Sir or Madam,
It gives me great pleasure to declare that Emma Meyer has my wholehearted and
unreserved support for the current position.
As a large charity based in Queensland, Australia, YMCA Social lmpact regularly facilitates
university practicum placements. However, of the many past students who have worked in
our organisation, none have made such a large and lasting contribution as Emma has.
On her commencement, Emma was tasked with leading a needs analysis project on The
YMCA School-Based Mentoring Program. This involved working with program staff across
five sites to best understand the needs and challenges experienced by participating young
people, many of who experience complex behavioral and emotional problems. lt also
required her to assess and synthesise the needs of other stakeholders such as school staff
and volunteer Mentors working across the programs. Given these requirements, Emma's
role necessitated a multitude of skills and knowledge to manage the project successfully.
Most noteworthy, Emma's coordination skills superseded that of most experienced staff. She
meticulously planned and importantly went to great lengths to involve all stakeholders in this
process. Her efforts to conduct extensive research in order to understand, analyse and
address the contextual and situational issues relating to disengaged young people were
impressive. Moreover, she was adept at identifying and coordinating much needed
resources for both the program and it's beneficiaries. Rarely did she require support or
supervision for tasks. Her initiative and work ethic really were very outstanding.
Emma's interpersonal and communication skills were also impressive. She developed robust
working relationships with both young and old stakeholders. All staff at the office welcomed
her enthusiasm and friendliness. ln fact, on numerous occasions colleagues informed me
that she was approachable and enjoyable to work with. She also communicated with
confidence and clarity. Further, her listening skills conveyed genuineness and interest.
The degree of professionalism present in Emma's practice was also notable. Her
organisation and punctuality to work and responding to correspondence was exceptional.
She went to great lengths to ensure any relevant task to her role was completed thoroughly
but also effíciently. Her written reports were also first-rate and delivered in a timely manner.
Emma made an invaluable contribution to our organisation. My recommendation for her is
unreserved as I am confident she can excel in any endeavor she embarks on. lf you wish to
discuss any of the aforementioned information further, please do not hesitate to contact me
