Dear Ms. Dwyer:
On behalf of Pi Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, thank you
so much for agreeing to serve as the Student speaker for our “2016 Scholarship Breakfast” to be
held Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Wyndham Hamilton Park Hotel &
Conference Center, 175 Park Avenue in Florham Park, NJ. Your accomplishments as a
recognized leader in your community, student body involvement and focus on academics make
you an ideal role model for students and indeed an inspiration to others. Our Sorority’s
International theme of “Launching New Dimensions of Service” represents initiatives that include
addressing educational enrichment, health promotion, family strengthening, environmental
ownership and global impact. Awareness, advocacy and action are our primary mechanisms to
promote change. We believe this opportunity to share your journey will inspire and motivate
others. If you can limit your talk to 5-7 minutes that would be great!
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated celebrated 108 years of service and sisterhood this
year. Founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, DC in 1908, Alpha Kappa
Alpha Sorority is the oldest Greek-letter organization established by African American college-
trained women. As the Sorority grew, it kept in balance two important themes: the importance of
the individual, and the strength of an organization of women of ability and courage. Pi Theta
Omega Chapter, chartered in Morristown, NJ, recently celebrated its 30th
year of service to the
Morris County community.
The attire for the breakfast is business attire (dress or skirt would be appropriate). If you would
please arrive between 9:30 - 9:45 a.m. we will be in the Afton Springfield room on the 3rd
floor
that would be appreciated. Please send over a short biography to be read at the breakfast.
Thank you again so much for your willingness to serve as our guest speaker, and we look forward
to your words of inspiration!
Best Regards,
