Introducing the story/ context;
The characters- introduces the characters of detective Somerset
and detective mills, them being the complete opposites when it
comes to work
Place – introduces you into a interrogation room followed by a
dark room- following into the idea of it being a thriller
Narrative – introducing the basic idea of there being a crime they
need to solve
3. Act 2
Introducing the problem:
The problem – there are a sequence of deaths done as
they committed sins
Enigma – to find who is committing these crimes and
why the 7 deadly sins
Solution – to find the person committing these offences
4. Act 3
Increasing tension & interest:
Montage – there is a montage of short fast clips, all giving a
similar sort of vibe and tension through the thought of the
unknown to spark interest
Enigmas maintained – we still don’t know who the killer is and
wont know unless we go and see it
Tension rising – due to the enigmas and music we are unaware
of who the killer is and can then only imagine, therefore will
make you want to go out of your way to know more
5. Micro Analysis
Mise-en-scene
The use of dark lighting gives off a thriller feel and a sense of
mystery
The contextual use of props and clothing is successful as it
gives off the feel of a thriller film
Editing
Short and fast editing allows the audience to feel the
effectiveness as it portrays the feel of a thriller
6. Micro analysis
Sound
As the trailer starts it goes through a slow start as you
establish what the film is about and gradually the tension
increases and so does the tempo, by the end the tempo is
at max as it goes through a montage of high tension scenes
Cinematography
We start off with a close up of detective mills discussing the
situation and we gradually have quick camera movements
to build suspense and tension
