2. Thriller Plot
Opening scene:
Detective puts file away in his office room which is dark because he is about to leave
Cuts to next scene – prisoner hand cuffed and walking through a corridor
Black screen flashes, phone call in background it says “Karmas a Bitch” or “Karma kills, Keep quiet” this call
is from an anonymous person who maybe linked to the previous scenes
More flash quick succession then rolls onto new scene- Girl walking through a park, alone on a dark evening
Two hitmen targeting and following the girl, we suspect something in the bushes.
She doesn’t suspect anything she has her music loud. She nearly finished walking past the park
The men ambush her, putting a cloth with sleeping liquid on her mouth making her pass out.
Jump cut to them dragging her by her arms and legs from the park to the car, dumping her into the boot
slamming the back boot shut. Then the title reveals itself ‘The last call’
Genre: Psychological thriller
Age Certificate: 12+ due to the violence not being graphic and language being mild
3. Location
Location 1: File scene: Study room: Shelf with a file – we chose this room
because it resembles a office
Location 2: School hallway: Scene for prisoner walking down on- we chose
this location because it matches the theme of a prison that has no open space
Location 3: Park- Virginia waters- we chose this location because it has open
space which will allow mystery, pillars which gives the place an eerie
atmosphere
4. Camera angle shot and movement
Close up/Deep focus- Of the hand reaching to the file additionally a close up on file name. to show the detail and
reveal bits of plot but it doesn’t reveal detective face
Hand held Camera- To follow the girl when attacked to create realism
Wide shot- when girl is walking through park- to show how open the scene is and how small she looks suggesting her
vulnerability.
Movement/Tracking shot- when prisoner walks down corridor the camera is static and on a tripod. This creates an
effect that someone is watching him as he doesn’t notice.
Tilt shot- when girl walks down though park she looks small- we chose this to show her vulnerability as she's walking
alone
Low angle shot- used when in the bushes and girl walks past- this is used to show how someone might be hiding/
observing her due to the focus on the footsteps. Also used when prisoner walks to show his dominance and power
Pan shot: when girl is walking through park – this creates an effect of her being traced.
Over the shoulder shot- this is used when the girl is attacked- this creates realism as the audience can witness what
happens to the girl as its happening to them.
5. Mise en scene
Costume & Makeup:
Prisoner outfit- Orange jumpsuit
Policeman outfit- black suit & hat
Hitmen: all black outfit (no hood) (as an audience we only see arms and no face)
Girl- brighter colours, hat, gloves, scarf,
Girl had broses on her neck (pained with makeup)
Lighting:
Minimalistic its natural lighting, dark atmosphere creates gloominess and mystery of film.
Because its set in the evening the lighting will be darker & trees in the park will create a shadow effect. The
clothing from the men contrast the girls clothing she wears more warm and light colours rather than dark. This
shows her pureness and innocence

6. Sound & Atmosphere
• Non Diegetic sound- we as an audience can hear her music which is quite loud-
we will do this because it will show her focus and the surroundings being blocked
out due to the song which then the attackers can attack. Slam of the back boot- this
will be amplified though editing to create a shocking ending where then the title will
reveal itself.
• Diegetic sound- sinister sound of a violin or faint drums creating the effect of
suspense and an eerie atmosphere. Foot steps of the prisoner will be used to create
an effect of something coming as the prisoner will slowly walk down the hallway.
• Dialogue- Two sentences this creates mystery as there is no face shown on who
this could be, we don’t know who says “Karmas a Bitch” or “Karma kills, Keep
quiet” and why. Lack of dialogue focuses the audience to what they see.
7. Credits
• “The Last Call”- Title of film which will be revealed at end font will be bold
red with an effect of blood dropping down the screen on a black
background

8. Editing
• Text and font- we are aiming to have the credits in white to stand out from the dark and gloomy
scenery. The credits will be implemented within the film clips which then will fade out. The credits will
appear within the film and would be placed on the files next to the opening scene.
• Title-The title will be revealed at the end scene when the back boot closes which creates a black
background which then the font will appear with the title of ‘The last call’ fading out in droplets of
blood.
• Jump cuts-from when the girl is passing out to when she's in the back boot. This creates a build-up to
suspense as then the following scene will be when the back boot is closed.
• Continuity editing- we will match the scenes from the girl passing out to the scene where she is near
the car to create realism so that it flows rather than it jumping.
• Fade- The scene where the girl is fainting will have a fade which will create an effect to the audience as
if they were the one who is fainting.
• Focus- the scene where the girl is fainting will loose focus to create an effect of the audience
experiencing the pain and results of passing out. It will focus back in onto the new scene where the girl
is in the back boot and we will able to see the broses and her tied up in the back
