2. EVALUATION QUESTION
NO.1
• The genre of the final
production would be
classed as a action
thriller for the idea of
suspense and single
‘fight’ scene where if the
opening sequence would
continue into a real film
more action would be
involved
• Compared with other
films of the same genre. I
think we have included
the vital parts to make a
suitable effect that would
come across to
audiences. the use of the
soundtrack shows the
build up of tension
3. • At the very start of the opening
sequence. It is introduced by blurred
police light which the idea behind is to
not give away any details of the reason
of the prisoners arrest which allows the
audience to come up with their own
theories which will keep the audiences
mind occupied on what will happen
next
• We next come to the police station
where it starts to elevate the tension by
the increase of the music which will
create atmosphere for the actions within
the opening sequence
• The fact we never see the criminals face
adds to the effect and allows even more
suspense when his face is finally
revealed
CONVENTIONS OF AN ACTION
THRILLER
4. • In these shots the prisoners face is
covered to draw the attention of the
audience and the music changes to
keep the audience on edge and
increase the suspense to give the scene
a tense atmosphere
• These shots purpose is to have the least
amount of the prisoners face in to reveal
his plan without giving away too much of
his appearance to continue the suspense.
which i feel relates to a conventional
action thriller.
CONVENTIONS OF AN ACTION
THRILLER
7. • The concept of the opening sequence and the comparing example (escape
plan)have similarities as the storyline of an escaping convict is relevant. The
shots used are similar. For example the shot where the women is getting out
the car. and the shot of her feet. Also the shot where the prisoner sitting in his
cell. The props used were also very similar with the jump suit, hand cuffs and
ankle cuffs
• The type of effect we were attempting to get across to the audience is shown
in the example ‘lockout’ where the interrogation scene is similar to the style of
sequence we were attempting to produce
COMPARING TO REAL FILM
