School as the Library Director and Research Supervisor.
I am currently among the IB educator and will start soon the training to be an IB workshop
leader in the near future. I am also designing my own library skills curriculum which is
aligned with the IB mission and philosophy.
Some of my tasks and duties:
- Plan, direct, implement and evaluate the library program to achieve the school and
the IB mission.
- Responsible for all the Library's administrative operations and programs.
- Organize library materials, over 28000 resources, materials, and facilities for effective
and efficient utilization and circulation in an outstanding way.
- Manage and promote a wide range of resources in a variety of formats, traditional
and electronic, and where appropriate, the equipment to access them.
- Set the library policies, rules and regulations.
- Maintain and train effectively the SLS library software for managing the library
resources.
- Maintain the magazines, audiovisual and all materials database.
- Maintain appropriate records of all library materials..
- Manage, mentor and supervise the library staff ( 7 assistants ), onsite trainings, and
professional development.
- Assist staff and students with new technologies.
- Work as teacher Librarian and supervise the students' Personal Project, other MYP
Project, and teach the rights and responsibilities of users relating to the generation
and flow of information and ideas (e.g., copyright, confidentiality / privacy,
intellectual freedom, plagiarism).
- Help students develop habits of independent reference work and skills in the use of
materials in relation to planned assignments and projects.
- Assist students with reading selection.
- Mediate between learners and resources to enable learners to identify, locate and
access the information they need.
- Prepare all materials needed and work collaboratively with all teachers to support
Units of inquiry.
- Provide all the students and faculty members with resources to supplement the
curriculum.

This involves the management and integration of both physical areas and virtual
learning environments to create positive learning spaces. This involves maintaining
discipline in the library.
- Managing online Information database (like Britannica) subscription and training of
staff/students for better use of the database
- Enable teaching staff to maintain a high level of awareness of professional
development and relevant resources through the provision of appropriate
professional materials and information.
- Setup a new Modern Information Resource Center which includes books and audio
visual aid.
- Present all new policies and facilities to all students and staff.
- Coordinate and cooperate with other professionals Libraries to exchange and sharing
ideas and experience.
- Evaluate and select materials.
- Determine the needs of students and teachers throughout the academic year and use
the acquisition list to select new materials.
- Attend library-related meetings, workshops and in-service programs.
- Do the periodic inventory of all materials and materials.
- Supervise the withdrawal of outdated and worn out materials.
