1. The 22 Year old singer has been in the music industry for 7 Years. On the 30th July 2012 he released
his first album called Contrast. Including his first ever single ‘Cant Say No’. He realised his music
video for ‘Can’t Say No’ on the first of March and got over fourteen million views in eight months.
This album got over 20,000 copies in under a week worldwide. Recently, he has brought out two
new singles called ‘Royalty’ and ‘Talking about’ which has got over 1,439,00 views on both official
music videos on YouTube alone so far. However, he still continues to upload covers on his YouTube
channel and Facebook. Many people have said Conor is like Justin Bieber as they both rose to fame
from YouTube at such a young age.
Conor Paul Maynard was born on the 21st November 1992 in his home town Brighton. He attended
Cardinal Newman Catholic School in Hove. The start of is Career was all because of a big online
video website called YouTube. Conor signed up on the 19th May 2006 uploading his very first video
of him singing ‘Breathe’ by Lee Car. From this singer/songwriter Ne-Yo watch his cover of ‘Beautiful
Monster’ and liked him that much that he became his mentor and signed him onto EMI/Parlophone.
These then matched him up with producers The Invisible Men and songwriter Sophie Stern.
With his first album ‘Contrast’ produced by Parlophone/EMI the rising British heart throb’s debut
album went straight to the top of the new U.K. album charts. He recorded this album at Ealing
Music Studio in the West of London, England. The length of this album is 41 minutes and 25 seconds
which I would say is less than a normal album however, he only has 12 songs on his album
Comparison to a normal album which also has 12. The release of his pop album was released on the
30th June 2012 and took him between 2011 and 2012 to produce. From this in November 2011 he
was nominated and won the MTV’s brand new for 2012 award and was competing along side
Delilah, Michael Kiwanuka, Lana Del Rey and Lianne La Havas. It was realised that Connor won this
award on 31st January 2012 with 48% of the publics vote. Also, on the 5th May 2012 he had the
honour to perform ‘Can’t Say No’ at the 7th annual addition of the TRL awards in Italy and then on
the 9th June he performed it at the Capital Summertime Ball with a crowd of over 80,000. ‘Contrast’
nudged Plan B's "Ill Manors" film soundtrack from No.1 into the runner-up spot. Making Conor hit
the No.1 spot. Maynard also, achieved his second top five U.K. single of 2012 when "Vegas Girl"
entered at No. 4, from this it dipped five places.
It has been nearly three years since Conor has realised any new music. Now, he has two new singles
‘Royalty’ and ‘Talking about’ which was realised around April time this year. And I bet everybody has
missed this cheeky chap! Well now he’s currently back with his new single ‘Talking about’ which has
put a twist on Mr Maynard's style, in this he seems to be more dance based with an edge. I would
say this new sound will be a dance floor filler. He told CMM about how these singles and working
with Craig David came about, and why he was away for so long. The music video for ‘Talking about’
was shot in Miami it has been said that it has a sun drenched feeling to it and it even features
cheeky cameo from Craig David. ‘Talking About’ is the first cut from Conor’s forthcoming second
album, which already promises to be a totally new sound to anything we’ve heard from him
before. Conor revealed that ‘I didn't want to fall into that place where you're almost
releasing music but I really wanted to step back and have a moment to really figure
out exactly where I wanted to go with this album and what I wanted to put across.’
However, for ‘Royalty’ he teamed up with Labrinth after working with him on a
previous song in 2013 with the hit ‘R U crazy’. It has been said that Conor new
exactly what he wanted to create that it took him and Labrinth three hours
just to record the first verse because, he was looking at the finer detail to
make it perfect. ‘I had to sing in a swing/jazz style, which I never imagined
I’d even never attempt.’ ‘Royalty’ really does not sound like anything else
out there which is very rare in the music industry.
‘Take Off’ was produced on the October 2013 however, it was
revealed in June that year. He brought this book out to tell his fans
about his younger life and how he rose to fame. The book will contain
Take Off will be published by Hodder and Stoughton imprint Coronet
and physical formats at £16.99. CMM thinks ‘Take off’ Is a really
worthy name to his book as it links in with how he career took off.
"I'm really excited to be releasing a book this autumn. It's been
an incredible journey over the last few years and I can't wait to
share my story and meet as many fans as possible out on the
road at book signings,“ Inside his book it will contain hundreds
of exclusive unseen photos and detail into Maynard's rapid
journey through his own words. The publisher is inviting
fans to submit photos of themselves with Maynard to be
included in the book's end pages, while the star will
embark on a major publicity and social media campaign
for the launch. Doing this made him interact with his fans
more and include them in a massive part of his career.
Conor said that he is exited for his maniacs (his
supporters/fans) to see and hear what is coming next.
From this interview with Conor we found out that he is
going to bring out some more singles later this year
or early 2016 and maybe a new album will rise.
