Landscape photographers unit 1
1. Alain Briot
The photo at the top is a good
sky scape because the photo is
dominated by the sky there is
also a good cloud formation in
the sky. The mountains at the
bottom of the photo add I nice
splitting up effect to the photo
because it breaks it down. He
also has a good reflection photo
where there is a good reflection.
The photo in the bottom left is a
good use of foreground and
background interest because in
the foreground there trees and
when you look further back into
the photo you see the big orange
mountains at the back.
2. Ansel Adams
I like his photos because of them being in black and white
because I think he has a good contrast between the
blacks and whites. In the bottom right photo there is a
good sense of symmetry because of the two mountains
being next to each other. In the top photo he has used
the trees as sort of guideline the point the viewer
directly at the mountain and the river beneath it. The
bottom left photo has a good use of leading lines because
it makes me follow the river around the photo.
3. Charlie Waite
The two photos in the left are both leading lines photos, I
like the op left one because the path leads you down into
nothing. The bottom left photo is also good because the
leading lines of the crops lead to the lonely tree in the
middle of the photo. There seems to be a sense of
isolation with the photo on the right because all of the
trees seem to be all in one place with the the green of the
grass and he darkness of the sky around them, I think it
could qualify as a sky scape because of dominant the
clouds are along with the formation of them.
4. David Burdeny
The photo in the top left is a really good photo in
my opinion because the reflection, there are four
different colours. And this makes a cross that
crosses right in the middle of the photo. The top
right photo is like a leading lines photo because the
bollards sticking out of the water lead down the
photo into nothing. It also seems very moody
because of the grey colours. The photo at the
bottom has very good shapes within it. And it also
gives a good sense of layers within the photo
because of the white breaking up the image into
two sections.
5. Edwin Martinez
The top left photo id good because it has background and
foreground interest with he rocks at the front of the photo
and the two mountains joining each other at the back of the
photo. The water also breaks it down which gives it a good
layer effect. The bottom right photo id quite similar because
of the foreground and background interest. This photo also
has a nice layer effect because of the white clouds,
green/yellow shrubs and the blue water at the bottom if the
photo. The bottom left photo is very nice because it has a
sense of loneliness to it because if the rock being by its self. I
also think the waves at the bottom of the photo give a nice
look to it. Also the rock at thr front of the photo has been
placed on on of the rule of thirds lines, so it is on a point of
interest.
6. Macduff Everton
All of the photos I have chosen are panorama
photos. The top right photo has been taken with a
fisheye lens so it puts a nice effect onto the photo
because it looks like the trees are being stretched
across the photo. Also the placement of the sun is
good because he is getting nice shadows from the
trees. The bottom left photo looks like it has also
been taken with a fisheye lens because of the
bend at the edge of the photo. I also think it has
good leading lines because of the cut down grass
either side of the trees. The top left photo is very
nice because the rocks separate the landscape,
because if how jagged the rocks are. I also like
how there are patches of water on the floor.
7. Guy Tal
The bottom left photo is very nice because of the pink
dominating the photo I also like how the two lower
mountains both lead to the big mountain in the
middle of the photo. I also like how the mountain
range splits the pink from the sky. The top left photo
has a good sense of isolation because the trees are
just sitting in a white landscape, there is also the
mountains in the background giving it a good
background interest. The top right photo has really
nice colours in the photo because of the oranges of
the leaves and the whiteness of the tree trunks.
There is also a nice yellow colour at the bottom of the
photo.
8. Joe Cornish
The top left photo had a very nice reflection/symmetry because
of the cloud pattern matching the curve of the water. The curve
of the water adds a leading line to the photo, there is also a nice
background interest because of the mountains. The bottom left
photo has a great leading line because of the wall leading all the
back into the photo, it also has some strong colours such as
greens and purples. The bottom right photo has foreground and
background interest because of the big mountains in the
background and the small stumps in the foreground. There is
also a nice contrast between the white if the snow and the
shadows that the mountains and stumps are produced.
9. Mary Kay
The top left photo is really nice because of the reflection
from the still water, where the water and the buildings
meet is a very good line of symmetry. It also gives a great
interest in every part of the photo with the mountains in
the background. The top right photo has a good use of
shutter speed because all of the water is blurred around
the rocks and the ships which gives the photo a really nice
effect. I also like the sun coming over the mountains in the
background. The bottom left photo has a number of
different things such as a good use of shutter speed,
foreground and background interest and the cloud makes
a very good shape in the sky, adding even more to the
photo.
10. Tony Sweet
The top left photo there is a good use of symmetry
straight down the middle of the photo, because of the
trees on either side of the road, make a really good mirror
image effect. Also the path that leads straight down the
photo is a very good leading line because it leads your
eyes straight through it and into the fog at the end of the
path. The bottom left photo is very nice layers photo
because of the different colours of the trees compared to
the mist below the mountain then the mountain itself and
then the blues and whites of the sky. The top right photo
is a very nice landscape because the fence adds a nice
leading line and the is also a good contrast between the
dark colours in the sky and the vibrant greens of the grass.
11. Uwe Steinmuller
The top left photo is nice because the is a very nice
contrast of colours because of the greens and the
yellows. The browns of the trees is also a very good dark
colour to the image. The top right photo using leading
lines really well because when you follow the leading line
you just get led into the background. The is also good
mirror image because of the threes being either side of
the path. The bottom left photo has about 4 dominant
colours that are all scattered around the photo. These
colours are green, orange, grey and a paler green for the
trees.
12. William Neill
The top left photo is very nice of the trees just being in the
middle of no where, gives a sense of isolation to the
photo, also the background of the photo is very nice
because of how dark the background is. The bottom left
photo has a brilliant reflection because of the line of
symmetry it adds to the photo there is also a nice variation
of clouds because there is some in the foreground and
background. The bottom right photo has a nice look to it
because of the rocks that are just dotted around in the
blurriness of the water. I also like the big rock in the
background because it adds a nice background interest.
