2. The film is called “Halloween”; Halloween is a time of year
which is meant to be scary and playing on the themes of
evil and so writer and director most probably wanted to
enhance the feeling of fear for the audience and so this
time of year would be an appropriate time to set the film.
In the opening clip there is a very long introduction aiming
to build up tension and jeopardy. There is discordant non-
diagetic soundtrack as the camera slowly zooms into the
pumpkin. The pumpkin could be representing someones
face as when the camera is fully zoomed in we see the side
of the pumpkin only showing the eye and the nose which is
something which is used often to disguise someones face
when aiming to represent evil.
3. The film is targeting a teenage and young adult market and we
get the idea of this through the relatable household. The teenage
girl and her boyfriend have sex when they are alone in the house
and the young brother disapproves and this is how the storyline
forms. A horror convention which is used here is the
representation of the female being a sexual object.
There is a use of a subjective /hand held camera providing the effect
of being in the characters position. In this film we are looking
through the eyes of a killer which is a new idea as the audience is
seeing it through an evil perspective.
