1. FACIAL ARTERY

2. INTRODUCTION
Is one on anterior branch of
external carotid artery.
 ORIGIN: just above cornua of
hyoid bone in carotid triangle

3. Cervical part :
 runs on superior constrictor of pharynx deep to posterior belly of
diagastric muscle.
 Then grooves submandibular gland makes superior bend winding
first over submandibular gland than over base of the mandible and
enters the face

5. FACIAL PART:
 It has a tortuous route along the nasolabial fold towards the medial angle of
the eye.
 At the base of the mandible by piercing the ddeep cervical fascia at
anteroinferior angle of messter muscle. Then the artery runs upward to the
angle of mouth and ascend to the side of nose up to medial angle of eye and
terminates as angular artery.

7. BRANCHES
CERVICAL PART:
 Ascending palatine: root of tongue
 Tonsiller : tonsil
 Submental: submental triangle
 Glandular : sublingual gland
FACIAL PART:
 Inferior labial : lower lip
 Superior labial: upper lip + nasal
septum
 Lateral nasal: ala and dorsum of
nose
