Mr. Spahr won a 2014 39-foot Berkshire Motorhome and 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited plus $55,000
towards the federal withholding requirement taxes after donating $20 to help charities.
GRAVETTE, Ark. -- The 2014 Outdoor Adventure Dream Giveaway®, a nationwide drawing sponsored
by New Beginning Children’s Homes, ended on December 30, 2014. William Spahr, from College Corner,
Ohio, was the grand-prize winner.
Mr. Spahr was awarded a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and a magnificent 39-foot 2014 Berkshire
Motorhome. He also received $55,000 to help pay the federal withholding requirement for taxes.
Mr. Spahr entered the 2014 Outdoor Adventure Dream Giveaway on October 21, 2014, by making a $20
tax-deductible donation. “There were so many great charities involved and I was glad I was able to help
out,” he said.
On Tuesday, January 20, 2015, he received news via telephone that he had won the national sweepstakes.
“When I heard that I had won it was just something really over the top,” he said. “I just couldn’t believe it!
After that my mind went blank.”
He accepted the prize package at the special award ceremony on Friday, February 13, 2015, in Plymouth,
Michigan.
Mr. Spahr, now retired, served as the Preble County, Ohio, recorder for 27 years. In his spare time he
enjoys playing cards, reading, and spending time with his dog.
He entered Dream Giveaway promotions the past four years and this year his dream finally came true. He is
already planning road trips in his new palace on wheels, including a trip out west to visit his daughter.
Mr. Spahr also tested out his new 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. “That Jeep is just a sweetheart. It is
absolutely beautiful and it has all the bells and whistles. It is state of the art,” he said.
The winner had this to say to the people who still don’t believe this is for real, “It’s real, believe me! You
are living a dream when you win. It’s really a dream come true!”
New Beginning Children’s Homes (NBCH) is a 501(c) 3 provider of family-style long-term residential care
with a mission to provide foster children a safe and faith-centered family atmosphere where they can heal,
grow, and be loved while working through difficult life issues. In addition to the funding they received,
NBCH provided grants to several worthwhile charities, including Disabled American Veterans, National
Guard Educational Foundation, National Association of Christian Churches, Smile Network International,
Mothers Against Drunk Driving, and Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries.
