The Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer was founded in 1993 by Vera Bradley Co-founders Barbara Bradley Baekgaard and Patricia R. Miller after the loss of their friend Mary Sloan to breast cancer. Their mission is to save lives and end breast cancer. Since 1998, the Foundation has raised nearly $17 million under the leadership of Drs. Hari Nakshatri and Kathy Miller. The Dearborn County Tour for the Cure program has raised over $37,000 for the Foundation since 2008 through tourism activities that allow visitors to support breast cancer research.

17. Dearborn County’s Tour for the Cure® Travel
Rewards Program has raised more than
$37,000 for the Vera Bradley Foundation for
Breast Cancer since 2008.
Funds were raised through local tourism
partner activities for travelers booking a Tour
for the Cure® overnight package, a girlfriend
day trip or group tour to Dearborn County, or
attending a Tour for the Cure® Event.
“From the road to the slopes, Tour for the Cure®
has given Southeast Indiana visitors ample
opportunity to join us in our commitment to
fund breast cancer research. Not only has Tour
for the Cure® contributed substantially to
research, but you’ve also introduced countless
supporters to the Vera Bradley Foundation’s
mission. We are so grateful.”
