1. 2016 Mini-Jeep Raffle Winner
November 4, 2016
DOVER, DE ---The 2nd Annual Boo-BQ took place at Delaware Seashore State Park below the Indian
River Bridge on October 21 and 22. This official Delaware State Park event brought family and friends
together to enjoy Kansas City BBQ, a Jeep Show, a run/walk 5k, low-digit surf fishing tag auction,
costume contests and more.
On Thursday, November 3, Julie Johnson of Middletown, DE became the winner of the 2016 Children in
Nature Mini-Jeep raffle. Johnson, accompanied by her husband, was happy to receive her prize stating,
“We are outdoor people ourselves! Our kids are too grown now but we hope to let our neighborhood
kids use it.”
The Mini-Jeep is a gas powered, 125 CC kids vehicle donated to Delaware Children in Nature Coalition,
by Megee Motors in Georgetown, Delaware. Megee Motors is a family owned company, servicing the
Delmarva Area since 1948. Terry Megee, his wife Vanessa and their two children, Lindsey and Matt
continue the family tradition today and carry Sussex County’s largest inventory.
“Terry is an outstanding, leading, business man and he has been supportive of our initiative and getting
our kids out doors and in nature,” says John Hollis, Sussex Manager of Community & Government Affairs
and also a lobbyist for Nemours Health and Prevention Services. “He is such a creative thinker and had
come up with the idea of a jeep replica.”
The Mini-Jeep Raffle was created to raise money for the Delaware Children in Nature Initiative (CIN)
endowment fund that will be in effect this year. The state-wide initiative addresses the arising concerns
that “Delaware children are not spending enough time outdoors”, according to the 2012 taskforce. The
Children in Nature Initiative exist now as a coalition of 25 and is still growing. In addition to the Mini-
Jeep, all proceeds from the 2nd
Annual Boo-BQ will also fund the CIN endowment. The raffle generated
$4,515.
