My Philosophy for teaching

2. My Motives
• My overall goal is to be a professinal musician and performer. And
afterwards I would like to teach college and maybe do private
lessons. I would also like to go to a different country to teach as
well.
• During this course, even though my job title is more of a
performer aspect, the one thing I took away from it is that there
is always more room for you to grow and learn so that when you
do go into the work force, you will have all of the nessecary skills
that you need.

4. Why do I choose this career field?
• I chose this career field because I have always enjoyed playing
instruments. I play 5 different instruments, but mainly I play the drums.
My inspiration comes from my community band director which I have
known most of my life and my high school percussion and jazz teacher.
• When I first started playing drums about 10 years old in a community
band organization which I coach now. Then when I was in 8th grade I
went to Performing Arts where I was a music major. I really enjoyed my
time there and learned many things. My music teacher continued to
inspire me throughout high school. He was always tough on me, but he
told me the reason for that was because he saw great potential in me.
And I have stuck with wanting to be a musician since.

6. • Another big reason why I want to be a musician is because I have been
told many times that it should not be a career choice for me. A lot of
people in my life who are close to me do not approve of my career
choice because they think I would not make a lot of money or that im
not good enough for it because you have to be the best; but that
statement is actually not true.
• For me personally it is not about the money, but doing what you love to
do. I want to take negative aspects that was put upon me and prove to
everyone that you can achieve what you want in life if you work hard
enough. I believe if we all have been blessed to do something and we
feel strongly about, since life is so short why not go for it.

7. How will I pursue this field?
• Next semester after I graduate from Cincinnati State, this August I
plan on leaving to go to Miles College in Birmingham, Alabama on
a band scholarship to finish my music degree. I recently got an
opportunity to travel with Universal Soul Circus as a drummer next
summer. So most likey ill be touring with the circus diring the
summers as my job. After I get my bachelors I plan on getting my
Masters in music performance from University of Cincinnati. And
hopefully another opportunity will come if I get tired of the
circus.
