• Adolescence, or the time of life between
childhood and adulthood, usually
encompassing the teenage years.
• During adolescence, people go through many
changes that can bring on stress: they develop
physically, emotionally, socially and
intellectually.

3. Adjustment
• Adjustment is a process by which living
organism maintain balance between its needs
and the circumstances that influence the
satisfaction of these needs.
• Adjustment is a continual process by which a
person varies his behaviour to produce a more
relationship between himself and his
environment
4. Adjustment problems in
adolescence
• School adjustment: change in study hours and
course structure… timings etc
• Stress due to physical changes, hormonal
changes and emotional changes
• To deal with this situation is not easy for
everyone
5. • When adolescents do not adjust well, it can
lead to depression, anxiety and other
emotional problems
• Its important for the teenagers to manage and
to learn adjustment and same way it is very
important for others to understand them and
support them
6. • Maladaptive behaviors are behaviors that do not
allow a person to reach harmony with the
environment.
• Often, they are a way of dealing with the stress of
change that is so much a part of adolescence.
• For example :cutting them selves, eating
disorders, drinking alcohol, taking drugs
• Going to parties more and more for short time
relaxation

towards other students.
• Bullying and other violence are also
maladaptive behaviors that students try out.
