2. Development of agriculture
Development of Agriculture refers to efforts made to
increase farm production in order to meet the
growing demand of increasing population.
Agriculture has developed at different places in
different parts of the world. Developing countries
with large populations usually practice intensive
agriculture.
Agricultural Development can be achieved by
improving irrigation facilities, use of fertilizers and
high yielding variety of seeds.
Mechanization of agriculture is also crucial for
agricultural development.

4. Major Crops grown in India and USA
Two of the major crops grown in
both India and USA are Sugarcane
and Soybeans.
Sugarcane is mainly used to make
sugar throughout the world.
Soybean is used as food as well as
for procession of oil.
5. sugarcane
Sugarcane is grown in large quantities
throughout the world, but majorly in USA and
India.
In India, it is mainly used to make sugar and
some beverages.
In USA, sugarcane is mainly used to make
sugar and the rest of it is used to make Bagasse
which is used as a fuel to make paper and
plastics.

8. Requirements of sugarcane Cultivation
Cultivation of Sugarcane requires moderate
temperature of 20-27 degree Celsius.
Sugarcane requires a good amount of water for
growing, therefore it is grown in regions having
average rainfall of 150 cm.
Sugarcane can grow on both Clayey Loam and
Sandy Loam soil but best at well drained soils.
Most of the farmers generally use fertilizer named
‘Azospirillum’ on sugarcane for efficient growth.
9. Soybean
Soybean is mainly grown in India, USA and
China throughout the world. But it is a
majorly grown crop in both India and USA.
In India, 57% of soybean is used as food and
43% of it is used for procession of oil.
In USA, 75% of Soybean is used for oil
procession and just 25% is used as food.

12. Requirements of Soybean cultivation
Soybean requires 15-32 degree Celsius
temperature for growth.
It requires 60-75 cm annual rainfall to grow
efficiently.
It requires Sandy Loam soil mixed with good
amount of organic matter for good growth.
Soybean requires less amount of fertilizers as
compared to other crops.
