3. Reproduction : is the development of new
individuals (progeny) from their pre-existing ones.
(parents)
The manner in which they originate is called
modes of reproduction.
The vegetative parts of the plant are the roots,
stem and leaves. The reproductive parts of the plant
are the flowers. In plants there are two main types
of reproduction.
They are asexual reproduction and sexual
reproduction.

7. What is sexual reproduction?
• Requiring 2 parents
– male and female (egg & sperm)
• The egg and sperm join (zygote) to form an
entirely new organism
• Offspring are different from the parent
organism.
• This process creates a variety of genetic
make-up which is the driving force behind
evolution.

8. Sexual Reproduction
Sexual reproduction produces a greater chance
of variation within a species than asexual
reproduction would.
This variation improves the chances that a
species will adapt to his environment and
survive.
