3. How many numbers of admissions will be made by the
institution for the Pharm.D ?
Number of admissions for the Pharm.D program shall be
as prescribed by the Pharmacy Council of India from time
to time and presently it is restricted to 30 students intake
for Pharm.D.
In what way Pharm.D differs from regular B.Pharm?
Both B.Pharm and Pharm D are the registrable
qualification for practicing pharmacy profession under the
Pharmacy Act. B.Pharm is a 4 yrs course and Pharm D is
6 yrs course including one yr of clinical internship.
Pharmacy practice component in all spheres of Pharmacy
professional services like Hospital & Clinical Pharmacy,
Community Pharmacy, clinical research, regulatory,
formulation development, quality control are emphasized
in Pharm D programme and after Pharm D qualification
the professionals are eligible to undertake Ph.D.
programme.

Yes, Pharm.D is a registrable qualification under the
Pharmacy Act 1948.

7. Eligibility Criteria:
The following authorities shall be eligible to apply online in the
prescribed format named SIF (Standard Inspection Form) as
per following details –
Authorities
a) The Central Government / State Government / Union
Territory administration.
b) An autonomous body established by the Central or State
Government for the purpose of pharmacy education.
c) A University.
d) A society registered under the Societies Registration Act,
1860 (21 of 1860) or corresponding Acts in States.
e) A public religious or charitable trust registered under
the Trust Act, 1882 (2 of 1882) or the Wakfs Act, 1954 (29
of 1954).

8. Number of admissions in the above said courses are
restricted as below -
i) Pharm.D. course – 30 students.
Location of the Hospital
1. Within the same limits of Corporation or Municipality or
Campus with Medical Faculty involvement as adjunct
faculty.
2. If the institution and hospital are located in different
Corporation or Municipality or Campus, the distance between
the two shall not be more than 30 kms. by road.
Only one Pharm.D institution can have the MOU with one
hospital.

9. Pre-requisite mandatory documents to be submitted:
i) Consent of affiliation of Examining Authority.
ii) MOU with 300 bedded hospital as per prescribed
requirements under regulation 2) of Appendix-B of Pharm.D
Regulations, 2008 except in North Eastern States and hilly
regions of India where hospital with 300 beds strength are not
available, the institutions desiring to seek approval of Pharm.D
course are permitted to sign a Memorandum of Understanding
with district headquarter hospital with available bed strength.
The prescribed format of MOU is enclosed as Annexure-IV.

10. a)The submission of above document will be pre-requisite for
access to application in SIF (Standard Inspection Form) and
submission of Pharmacy Education Regulatory Charges.
b) Online application in applicable prescribed form called SIF
(Standard Inspection Form).
c) The online application shall be submitted on PCI portal
within the prescribed time period as announced by the PCI on
its website www.pci.nic.in

15. Infrastructure Requirement -
At least two lecture halls alongwith eight laboratories as
specified below should be provided for:
1. Pharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics Lab - 2
2.Life Science (Pharmacology, Physiology, Pathophysiology)
– 2
3. Phytochemistry or Pharmaceutical Chemistry - 2
4. Pharmacy Practice - 2 ------
Total = 8 Labs
In addition to the laboratories, balance room, aseptic room
or cabinet, animal house and a machine room shall also be
provided.

Security deposit Rs.2.00 crore for PCI for Pharm. D.
The security deposit is not considered in below table as it will be refunded by
PCI after 10 years with 50% interest in 5 years and 50% interest after 10 years.
