This slide describes the different forms of Criticism, and Facilitation. These are crucial components towards building knowledge and are effectively manageable in an online distance education environment. This is beneficial to Instructional Designers and to Instructors at any educational institution.

● Ways of transforming how we feel?
7. Mr. Utterson; the Facilitator
of our story
Facilitation: the action of
make (an action or process)
easy or easier.
● Instructional Designers
● Instructors
● Peer Learners
11. When, how, and benefits
● Facilitation is used when developing ideas, developing consensus, building community,
encouraging communication. A discussion is perfect. ONGOING!
● Designing Discussion questions: Avoid confusing actions during a discussion!
● Attempt to apply the 10 dimensions of a Creative Climate to encourage a CoI, but most
importantly Trust and Openness, in hopes of reducing issues of transactional distance
○ Idea Time: Idea Support: Risk-Taking: Freedom: Dynamism: Playfulness/Humor:
Debate: Conflict: Challenge: Trust/Openness
● Online: Reduced implicit communication: no tone, no sound, no facial reactions.
● Time: Opportunity to reflect, review of readings topics, and edit/convey for concise
communication.
● instructor/ID: offers a qualitative opportunity to correct misconceptions, provide new resources,
or refine the instructional topic, based on ongoing formative assessments. Instructor and ID
may choose to collaborate. Great care should be taken to decide if immediate intervention is
needed or continue to collect formative data and apply to next semester course for
improvements.
12. Constructive Criticism use
Use during the final product.
Develop and refer to rubric for clear and concise expectations.

the learner.
Do NOT use the Sandwich Technique.
Avoid words requiring judgment versus measurable terms
● Smart is a judgement based on situation.
● Intelligent is measurable.
● Innovative approach is judgement based and based on situation.
● Grammatically structured well, is measurable. APA citation.

Our story teller…
Lives in two worlds… As we all do.
Read all definitions
Lived within his mind… He looked to identify, and stayed micro cosim.
Separating and dissecting… learn to work and love those parts.
He wanted to part himself instead of working with them… those parts become toxic and harmful. As Hyde did.
Summarize Mary Reilly- our heroin...
Valier Martin wrote a Pastiche
dutiful and intelligent housemaid
IDs are Mr. Utterson in the metaphoric sense. Our instructors have a choice
Facilitation: to make easier, a purpose of ID work, to make learning easier and make instruction more effective!
With Confusing Actions: which of the words is and ending? And which is open ended?
