The CMCC is a world renowned museum encompassing both the Canadian Museum of Civilization and the
Canadian War Museum with specific and critical technological needs. With over seventy (70) TB of data on
both tape and other mediums uptime and data storage are the foremost challenges.
Mr. Lawless oversaw the development of the CMCC and CWM into world class technology showcase. He
introduced technology such as SAN / Clustering / Advanced networking / VOIP / virtualization into the
environment and moved the museum from -70 SLA to over 99.5% consistently.
Duties included:
Administrated and trained a server operations group in a team environment using current server operation
methodologies as Team Lead Senior Network Consultant;
Lead design and technical architect on Canadian War museum using 4+1 Views of Architecture
framework
Utilized TOGAF architecture framework to design War Museum architecture
Initiated virtualization of lab and expanded this to production and DRP / BCP using early versions of
VMware;
Moved museums towards full VOIP coupled with Unified Messaging utilizing Mitel 3300 solution;
Led the museums on full integration of all Computer Associates System network monitoring software
including NSM /Spectrum/ Ehealth (comparable to HP, IBM, Solar Winds solutions);

SIGE’s original plan was to take existing network (UNIX and NT4) and implement Active Directory in a native
2000 environment, however, this was eventually changed to implementation of a mixed mode NT4 / 2000 server
solution with installation of Citrix Metaframe 1.8 and VERITAS Backup Exec also required (Citrix was needed
so that both UNIX and NT workstations could use Outlook as the primary scheduler and mail client; Backup
Exec was implemented because of its cross platform capabilities).

Mr. Lawless was tasked with moving an office environment from over fifteen (15) users to over thirty (30) full
time users and eighty (80) part-time client users. He moved the environment from a workgroup to a full Windows
NT4 domain. This project was accomplished during production, so little or no downtime was allowed.
Duties included:
Administered and trained a server operations group in a team environment regarding current server
operation methodologies (Team Lead Senior Network Consultant);
Performed preliminary needs assessment;
Designed and implemented change from twenty (20) user LANtastic network to 100 users Microsoft NT 4.0
operating system WAN. This project required a total redesign of existing network and included discussions
on new domain structure and integration of existing and future hardware with other organizations involved
(also budgeting and outsourcing of tasks to specific vendors);
Supported and trained thirty (30) regular and upwards of eighty (80) part time users;
Installed ISDN connection;
Installed and maintained fibre optic backbone;
The server operations group managed change requests and incidents using company designed application;

Dominic Law less - Page 4 of 10 September 2001 – December 2011 (84 months) The CMCC is a world renowned museum encompassing both the Canadian Museum of Civilization and the Canadian War Museum with specific and critical technological needs. With over seventy (70) TB of data on both tape and other mediums uptime and data storage are the foremost challenges. Mr. Lawless oversaw the development of the CMCC and CWM into world class technology showcase. He introduced technology such as SAN / Clustering / Advanced networking / VOIP / virtualization into the environment and moved the museum from -70 SLA to over 99.5% consistently. Duties included: Administrated and trained a server operations group in a team environment using current server operation methodologies as Team Lead Senior Network Consultant; Lead design and technical architect on Canadian War museum using 4+1 Views of Architecture framework Utilized TOGAF architecture framework to design War Museum architecture Initiated virtualization of lab and expanded this to production and DRP / BCP using early versions of VMware; Moved museums towards full VOIP coupled with Unified Messaging utilizing Mitel 3300 solution; Led the museums on full integration of all Computer Associates System network monitoring software including NSM /Spectrum/ Ehealth (comparable to HP, IBM, Solar Winds solutions); Implemented new SAN/EMC and NAS/Network Appliance for data and image storage; Led project on conversion and storage of 75 - 100 TB of data; Acted as Technical Project Lead on move to updated Solaris 8 Platform for Prophecy Open Financial System; Moved all critical system to clustered and / or virtual environments to reduce downtime and reduce server sprawl; Installed and configured Windows 2003 Cluster into Hybrid NT/Unix environment. This upgrade was needed because existing home folders resided on multiple servers with varying degrees of reliability. It was decided that all data would be moved to the SAN and that the Cluster would handle present and future server needs. He was also tasked with passing along concerns and or software issues to developers. Project #5 - Employment Services System Administration System Administrator January 1997 – November 1998 (23 months) Mr. Lawless was tasked with moving an office environment from over fifteen (15) users to over thirty (30) full time users and eighty (80) part-time client users. He moved the environment from a workgroup to a full Windows NT4 domain. This project was accomplished during production, so little or no downtime was allowed. Duties included: Administered and trained a server operations group in a team environment regarding current server operation methodologies (Team Lead Senior Network Consultant); Performed preliminary needs assessment; Designed and implemented change from twenty (20) user LANtastic network to 100 users Microsoft NT 4.0 operating system WAN.
