MARKETING PLAN
Japan Festival
Marketing & Communication Plan
(as of 3.11.14)
1. Background:
Event Name: Japan Festival
Event Date: Sunday, April 13, 2014 1pm-5pm
Event Location: Center for the Arts, Towson University
The Asian Arts and Culture Center of Towson University and The Baltimore Kawasaki Sister
Committee present a Japan Festival celebrating the 35th Anniversary of the Baltimore-Kawasaki
Sister City Partnership. The committees created a Japan Festival Committee and have been
working for four months on the planning. The Student Agency has worked on the entire project.
2. Objectives:
The main objective for the event is to bring a program to campus and area that provides an
cultural, educational and family-friendly experience for the community while promoting
diversity and celebrating 35th Anniversary of the Baltimore-Kawasaki Sister City Partnership
Our objectives to be achieved through media and marketing are as follows:
1) Through marketing and promotion, sell 300 tickets for the event.
2) Through marketing and promotion have 75% of tickets purchased by April12.
3) Create awareness and interest in our event through media coverage.
4) Highlight Towson University and the programs we offer.
3. Target Audience:
Our target audience comprises of three main groups: Japanese community, campus community
and the state of Maryland.
4. Strategies
Our strategy is to use an integrated marketing approach that will enable us to have 75% of tickets
in use by the day before the event. We will be promoting the event by utilizing a variety of
communication methods to direct traffic to the events.towson.edu website. All pertinent event
information will be posted on the Towson University website on several pages (see list below).
Communication methods will offer a preview of the event to attract the attention of our target
audience and direct them to the website. The communication methods that we will employ
include print media, radio, digital, posters, and the social networking sites: Facebook, LinkedIn
and Instagram.
