ICT – Project Discussion
Information and communications
technology (ICT) is an extensional
term for information technology (IT)
that stresses the role of unified
communication and the integration of
telecommunications (telephone lines and
wireless signals) and computers, as well as necessary enterprise
software, middleware, storage and audiovisual, that enable users
to access, store, transmit, understand and manipulate information
as per the international federation of ICT.
ICT enables the use of innovative educational resources and the
renewal of learning methods, establishing a more active
collaboration of students and the simultaneous acquisition of
technological knowledge. Furthermore, ICTs are of great help in
developing discernment. The
appearance of new technologies
in our day to day has made it
possible for the use of ICT in
education to increase
considerably in recent years.
The use of ICT is so widespread in society
that classrooms should not be less, and they must ensure that
they take advantage of what they can bring us. However,
children and young people must be taught to use them consciously and safely. The educational
sector must assume the responsibility of gradually implementing all the technologies that may
favor student learning in some way, and ensure that they learn to use them in a world where they
are already part of professional life and their social environment.
 Enhanced the modes of communication
 Cost-efficient
 Paperless: Eliminate the usage of paper. Eco-friendly
 Better teaching and learning methods
 Enhanced data and information security
 Minimize cost and save time
 Easy student management
Introduction
Use of ICT
in Education
Advantages
of ICT
Disadvantages
of ICT
Just like any other technology, ICT too comes with certain
limitations. While most of the educational specialist empathize on
putting aside the few disadvantages, few still argue otherwise and
essay the drawbacks of using the technology in education.
 Misleading and misguiding information
 Risk of cyber-attacks and hacks
 A risk to the traditional book and handwriting methods
 Implementing computers and the internet for ICT replace the convention education
curriculums
 Managing courses online is difficult
 Misuse of technology
 Not accessible everywhere
 Teachers require experience to handle ICT
 Implementing computers and the internet is expensive
 Few believe that computers can limit imagination

To better understand how E-Learning benefits
organizations today, it’s helpful to look at its past. Elliott Maisie
coined the term “E-Learning” in 1999, marking the first time the
phrase was used professionally. In the years since, E-Learning’s
reputation has gone from strength to strength.
About Learning
E-Learning, or electronic learning, is the delivery of learning and training through
digital resources. Although E-Learning is based on formalized learning, it is provided
through electronic devices such as computers, tablets and even cellular phones that are
connected to the internet. This makes it easy for users to learn anytime, anywhere, with
few, if any, restrictions. Basically, E-Learning is training, learning, or education delivered
online through a computer or any other digital device.
I discussed the advantages and disadvantages of E-Learning in a
WhatsApp group which comprised of 13 participants. All of my friends
had an in depth knowledge of E-Learning. I got lots of input from all of
the participants about the merits and demerits of E-Learning. However,
during the discussion out that advantages were far more than
disadvantages.
In a world where people have to travel to far off places for education, where all
people cannot afford to go to a regular college, E-Learning takes very less delivery time
compared to traditional training course. It is also very pocket friendly. A learner is free to
choose the topic of his choice. Unlike classroom training E-learning allows the learners to
start the course immediately anywhere anytime.
Tools and data systems can be integrated seamlessly to provide
information on student learning progress beyond the static and
dated scores of traditional assessments. Learning dashboards and
collaboration and communication tools can help connect teachers
and families with instantaneous ease.
This all is made more likely with the guidance of strong vision and leadership at
all levels from teacher-leaders to school, district, and state administrators. For these roles,
too, technology allows greater communication, resource sharing, and improved practice
so that the vision is owned by all and dedicated to helping every individual in the system
improve learning for students. It is a time of great possibility and progress for the use of
technology to support learning.
