Re: Dickson Omosa
Dear Sir/ Madam,
The MENTOR Initiative is an international NGO dedicated to fighting and preventing malaria and other vector
borne diseases in humanitarian crises. Mr. Omosa was employed by The MENTOR Initiative as a Malaria
Prevention Coordinator from September 2011 until December 2011.
During this time he led an emergency malaria prevention programme in an extremely challenging humanitarian
context in southern Somalia. He provided technical and operational management of the programme including
developing educational materials, delivering training and planning and coordinating field operations. Additionally,
due to the complex security situation in the area, he was required to oversee a number of other implementing
organisations as sub-recipients of the grant.
Mr. Omosa successfully overcame many complex logistical and technical challenges to implement this large scale
community based programme. Through intensive partnership working and a positive attitude, his programme
reached communities in areas where many other NGOs were prevented from operating and his work was highly
commended by the Mogadishu City health authorities.
As well as being a knowledgeable and experienced public health coordinator, Mr. Omosa always conducts his
work in a courteous and professional manner. He works hard and is willing and able to adapt and respond to the
many changing requirements of humanitarian programming.
We would not hesitate to employ Mr. Omosa again at an international level.
Yours faithfully,
Ms A. Cowley
