1. Letter of Recommendation for Ms. Esraa Abdalla
Ms. Esraa Abdalla worked at the Amman Office of the German Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung
(FES) as Program Administrator and Office Manager from 1 January 2013 until 30
September 2015.
The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) is a non-profit organization committed to the values
of social democracy and is the oldest of Germany’s political foundations. In Jordan, FES
opened its office in 1986 and is accredited through a long-standing partnership with the
Royal Scientific Society (RSS). The aims of the activities of FES Amman are to promote
democracy and political participation, to support progress towards social justice and
gender equality as well as to contribute to ecological sustainability and peace and
security in the region. FES Amman supports the building and strengthening of civil
society and public institutions in Jordan and Iraq. FES Amman cooperates with a wide
range of partner institutions from civil society and the political sphere to establish
platforms for democratic dialogue, organize conferences, hold workshops and publish
policy papers on current political questions.
As Program Administrator and Office Manager, Ms. Abdalla was responsible for the
logistical and financial matters of the activities of FES Amman and its partners. In this,
she worked in a mini-team with a Program Manager as well as under the supervision of
the Resident Director.
Her tasks included to serve as point of contact for the organization’s partners and
network, to organize the logistics of events ranging from small workshops to large

2. conferences, to prepare the financial documentation according to FES’ guidelines and to
issue payments to partners and service providers. Given her structured and organized
approach, Ms. Abdalla had no trouble in managing, for example, the logistics of extensive
regional conferences with participants coming in from many countries. Ms. Abdalla
works very efficiently and independently. She adapts quickly to new work
environments, is flexible and willing to work on any project that is assigned to her.
Ms. Abdalla’s passion was the Young Leaders program, which FES had started in Jordan
in 2012. Through this program, more than 350 youth from across Jordan have been
trained until now. She greatly contributed to managing and advancing the program,
which today is one of the most successful projects in FES’ 30-year history in Jordan.
Despite the fact that some of the youth were sometimes hardly younger than her, Ms.
Abdalla managed to gain their trust and respect, and became an important focal person
for them.
One of the things that impressed me most about Ms. Abdalla was her ability to easily
communicate with the many VIP contacts of FES. Ms. Abdalla was never shy in reaching
out to VIPs such as Ministers, Ambassadors and Senators, and always found the right
tone to address them. With her open and friendly personality, Ms. Abdalla was also well-
liked by the entire team of FES Amman.
The team of FES Amman wishes Ms. Abdalla all the best for her professional future.
