This document discusses innovative pedagogy and teaching effectiveness. It defines pedagogy as the approach to teaching and considers how knowledge and skills are exchanged in an educational context. Innovative pedagogy introduces new teaching strategies to improve student learning. Specifically, it discusses perceptual pedagogy, which aims to diversify learners' abilities, interests, motivation, and other academic and non-academic factors through multiplying, substituting, or shifting interests. This diversification approach seeks to better connect students to teaching stimuli in various ways and enhance learning perception.

2. Pedagogy
• Most commonly understood as the approach to teaching
• Broadly to the theory and practice of education, and how this
influences the growth of learners.
• Pedagogy, taken as an academic discipline, is the study of how
knowledge and skills are exchanged in an educational context.
• It considers the interactions that take place during learning.
3. Innovative pedagogy
• It is a new way of teaching, unlike those commonly used; it is bespoke and surprises
students.
• “Innovative teaching is a proactive approach to integrate new teaching strategies and
methods into a classroom.”
• According to Béchard (2000), pedagogical innovation is, “an intentional action that
aims to introduce something original into a given context, and it is pedagogical as it
seeks to substantially improve student learning in a situation of interaction and
interactivity.”
4. A NEW APPROCH: PERCETUAL PEDAGOGY
•Perceptual Pedagogy : Pedagogy for enhancing
self ability .
•Diversifying learners ability .
•Diversifying learners Interest, Motivation ,
Attitude and other related academic and non
academic factors.
5. Innovative Pedagogy: Perceptual Pedagogy
Multi-dimensional approach of related to teaching and learning where one
stimulus could be responded in many ways.
If stimulus is many then how one stimulus will be bonded with multifarious
interest of the learners in a particular Teaching- Learning situation.
As a result, some responses are connected well to the particular stimulus
but others are isolated.
Therefore, in these types of connection diversification is very much
significant for the betterment of correlating stimulus in various way.
6. Innovative Pedagogy: Perceptual Pedagogy
• In learning situation diversification is to be explained in the
following:
1. General Example:
S R
8. Cont.….
• To explain Diversification, we can classify diversification of
interest in three categories.
9. 1. Multiplication of Interest
• Interest could be multiplied on the basis of particular interest either in academic
discipline or through non- academic activities.
• Multiplication also could occur horizontally and simultaneously in different branches of
any particular subject or on the basis of different subjects.
10. 2. Substitution of Interest
• Here substitution refers to substitute one interest to another.
It is a spontaneous process. Naturally through substitution
diversification is rather easy to execute.
• As for example a student has interest in science subject
could be diversified in social studies and language through
substitution.
11. 3. Shifting of Interest
• Shifting is important and applicable when substitution is rather difficult.
• If a student is isolated from academic atmosphere and become interested
in non-academic activities. In this regard diversification will be followed
non-academically. In this condition shifting of interest have had an urgent
need for remedial measures.
• Here the non-academic activities could be shifted to academic activities on
the basis of particular effort and that is why teaching-learning system is
very much important for shifting.
13. Shifting Cont.……
• III. Identification of Interest Zone:
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Academic
Non Academic

14. Shifting Cont.……
• IV. Diversification is to be allowed on the basis of students
nature and standard.
• V. Shifting has / her interest from one section to a particular
desirable condition.
15. Perceptual Pedagogy leading to Effective
Teaching
• 1. Multiplying time and space of the learners.
• 2.Cooperating learning situation.
• 3.Understanding Learners.
• 4.Achievement Orientation by Substitution and Shifting.
• 5.Enhancing perception for better understanding.
