2. Background Information
• West Texas A&M University’s Media Relations
office handles media for all 17 sports. They cover
press releases websites, Media guides, game day
programs, record Books, and Social Media
accounts.
• There are several people to help operate this
office. Kit Strief who is the Associate Athletic
Director for Media Relations, has 2 graduate
assistants along with another full time assistant.
3. Mission Statement
• The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at West Texas A&M University, a
member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, seeks to further the
institution's mission of educating tomorrow's leaders by providing a
comprehensive and highly competitive athletic program for the benefit of
participants, the student body, our community and West Texas A&M University.
• In addition to the knowledge gained from a challenging academic program, we
believe that participation in intercollegiate athletics should include
opportunities for student-athletes to develop and hone critical leadership and
life skills that will assist in shaping their future success after graduation.
• The Department promotes an environment that encourages student-athletes
to reach their maximum potential in athletic competition, academic progress
and personal development, and will provide the resources necessary for
student-athletes to achieve success in each of these pursuits. We will ensure
equitable opportunities for men and women and will encourage diversity in
each of our programs.
• The Department advocates service to our community and embraces the NCAA
Division II philosophy of balance between academics and athletics.

• This organization uses their analytics through Facebook.
They use demographics to determine what they should
do better, and who they should target more.
• They decided that they divide sports up between the
four of them therefore that person can focus their
attention on one sport to receive a better outcome.
