Guided motion is an important feature found in automated machinery and equipment. Motion system components can enable the movement of heavy loads, or allow for equipment to be designed for adjustability and allow for a variety of machine functions or operational tasks. Motion products are engineered for specific conditions such as load direction, load capacity, or chemical compatibility. They are typically designed to carry loads in controlled service conditions which are clean, free of debris and well lubricated. After several months of use, these ideal operating conditions are rarely a reality for production machinery.

Harsh Environments
90° design results in a constant sweeping action that
clears debris from the track
Suitable for use in the presence of metal chips, powders,
fibers, slurries, saw dust, etc.
Wheel covers or lubricators should be integrated to help
ensure maximum wear resistance

17. #DWwebinar
Seal or Shield or Seal/Shield?
Bearings and guide wheels are protected from debris
Seal – Rubber
• Best for small debris particles, powders, etc.
• Limited protection against impacts
• More resistance due to rubbing of inner/outer bearing race
Shield – Metal, usually stainless steel
• Best for large debris, metal chips, etc.
• Good protection against impacts
• No additional resistance due to no contact of inner/outer bearing race
Seal/Shield – Rubber seal with metal shield hybrid
• Best of both designs

DualVee® Wheel Capacities
Sizing and life estimate in 3 simple steps:
Step 1: Calculate the loads on each bearing in the system
Step 2: Calculate the load factor (LF) for the most heavily
loaded wheel
Step 3: Calculate the life estimate using the equation
Working Load Capacities
Working load capacities are based on empirical data on
guide wheels used in general applications with static and
dynamic load conditions. Guide wheels can routinely
achieve travel life of one million cycles or higher when
these specified load capacities are observed.
