CAREER INTERNED AS A HELP DESK TECHNICIAN FOR IGO TECHNOLOGY IN GRUNDY, VIRGINIA
Primary responsibility was to assist customers in diagnosing and troubleshooting their
internet connection. I walked them through the process of power-cycling their routers,
checking the appropriate cables to make sure they were connected properly, checking the
cables for defects, describe to them how to conduct a PING test and walk them through the
process. Occasionally, I assisted the field technician which included checking and
repositioning a customer’s CCTV cameras, take inventory of iGo Technology’s equipment
such as routers, POEs, patch cables, antennas, etc., as well as install anti-virus software on
computers and assisted in setting up network printers and computers.
PERFORMED WORK-STUDY FOR SWCC AT THE BOOTH CENTER
Assisted the Booth Center network administrator with some of her daily tasks which
included: re-imaging hard drives and answering co-worker questions about their
computers.
IMS ASSOCIATE, WALMART
Primary responsibility was to help the IMS team unload freight trucks. The trucks carried
anywhere from 600 to 2500 pieces of merchandise and had to be sorted out and placed on
their designated pallets. The designated pallets identified which department the pallet
belonged to. We then had to send these pallets upstairs to the sales floor where the
overnight stockers could stock the merchandise. Once this was accomplished, my job
required me to assist the stockers in tracking down and locating certain merchandise from
the backroom to be stocked. This was accomplished by using a handheld computer, called a
Telxon, to scan barcodes and then navigate through the Telxon’s menu to find the location
and bin number of the merchandise.
POWDER CREW/PIPE LAYER LABORER, BIZZACK CONSTRUCTION
Primary responsibility was to assist the Blaster Foreman in the blasting process. Once the
drillers drilled their holes it was my responsibility to lay out blasting caps and blasting
boosters next to each hole. Once this was accomplished I assisted the Blaster Foreman in

assembling the blasting caps and blasting boosters, then dropping them down inside each
hole. Once this was accomplished I assisted the Blaster Foreman with distributing prell to
each hole that contained the assembled blasting cap and blasting booster. Once the prell
was distributed to each hole I filled the remainder of the hole with cuttings from the drill.
After the Blaster Foreman and I got all the holes filled with cuttings, we proceeded to wire
up each hole, connecting each hole to another hole based on the pattern the Blaster
Foreman thought necessary. Once all the holes were wired up, I walked the blasting area
with the Blaster Foreman to double-check and make sure all holes were wired up correctly.
After determining that the holes were wired up correctly we set off the blast. After the
blasting was finished for the day, it was my responsibility to take inventory on the
remaining blasting caps, blasting boosters, and bags of prell to make sure that all inventory
numbers would be correct in the event that a Federal Inspector decided to check our
inventory.
GAS POLY-PIPELINE FUSER, MATNEY CONSTRUCTION
Primary responsibility was to fuse together a 400 feet string of 2”, 3”, 4”, 6”, and 8” poly
pipeline by using either a small manual fuser for 2” and 3” pipe or using the hydraulic
McElroy fuser for 4”, 6”, and 8” pipe. This was done with the assistance of an excavator
operator to hold the pipe in place while I adjusted the jaws of the McElroy machine to get
the joint of pipe lined up with the joint of pipe I was fusing it to. After getting both joints of
pipe shaved, cleaned, and lined up, I proceeded to fuse together both joints of pipe, carefully
observing the temperature of the heating plate and observing uniformity of the lips of both
joints of pipe. After fusing together the joints of pipe, I let the lips of the joint cool for a
certain amount of time to ensure that the fuse was strong. This process was repeated until
all the joints of pipe were fused together. Once the appropriate amount of pipe was fused
together, I made up parts such as well head stub-ups, drip tank tees, and water junctions as
well as do all necessary bolt-up work such as bolting a spool piece to a gate valve, bolting a
drip tank to a drip tee, and make bleed-off stems for spool pieces and drip tanks. Once all
these parts were put together and buried, I would do other necessary jobs such as driving
pipeline indicator markers into the ground, ensure that siltfence was correctly in place and
undamaged, and also clean up the jobsite. Occasionally, I was required to assistthe hydro-
seeding crew in spraying hydro-seed over the newly buried pipeline or spread bales of hay
over the newly buried pipeline.
GAS POLY-PIPELINE FUSER/BRIDGE OVERLAY LABORER, CLECO CORP

joints of pipe. After fusing together the joints of pipe, I let the lips of the joint cool for a
certain amount of time to ensure that the fuse was strong. This process was repeated until
all the joints of pipe were fused together. Once the appropriate amount of pipe was fused
together, I made up parts such as well head stub-ups, drip tank tees, and water junctions as

these parts were put together and buried, I would do other necessary jobs such as driving
pipeline indicator markers into the ground, ensure that siltfence was correctly in place and
undamaged, perform housekeeping, and maintain a clean, organized jobsite.
Also spent significant time working as a laborer on the bridge overlay crew. Primary
responsibilities were to hammer out longitude joints at a depth of 6” and on a 45 degree
angle, build small forms to form the concrete, perform maintenance on the bridge bearings
that were located between the underside of the bridge and the pier caps, rake concrete
during the pouring process, perform housekeeping and maintain a clean, organized jobsite.

Primary responsibilities were assisting in setting up the drill rig, climbing the derrick tower
to make necessary connections or disconnections on drill pipe and casing, running the
winch line when tripping out of the hole or, in the case of a co-worker not showing up,
pulling and stacking the drill pipe when tripping out of the hole, assisting the driller in
making connections on the drill pipe from the floor, ensure that the blow-line was properly
assembled and firmly in place, collect samples of drill cuttings, ensure that all equipment
had adequate fuel, perform housekeeping and maintain a clean, organized jobsite.

HEADER MACHINE OPERATOR, EXCEL MINING SYSTEMS
Primary responsibilities were to mold bolt heads on the ends of sheered rebar by using the
header machine. The bolt heads had to be of a certain size, within a certain specification,
with the proper markings, and tagged with the proper identification and shipping tags. This
was required in order to pass the standards set by our quality assurance and quality control
managers. Also performed housekeeping around the machine and ensured that the machine
was ready to run for the next shift.
COURTESY CLERK, FOOD CITY
