How is your media project similar to other media texts?
1. Evaluation – How is your media
project similar to other media text.
2. Motif
The motif in our main site and the one from
our artists site are very similar as they have
the same colour scheme of red and black. In
addition the patterns are also similar as we
can see smoke in both pages although they’re
in different style.
On the other hand the motif in the music
video is similar to our influence’s previous
video which he has made before he became a
global star. The motifs which we see are
basically the artist wearing a tracksuit whilst
rapping in the hood.
Finally on the cd cover there are lots of
similarities in motifs, as we can see the image
of the artist is behind the track lists and again
the colours used are the same.
3. Style
The image of the video is of a young man in the hood
looking to get out and gain a better life for himself and
become more sophisticated. The video makes us seem
he’s street smart and he has experienced things.
4. Character representation
Firstly the representation of black males in society is
bold as they are seen in a negative way. We see this
representation in these CD cover, firstly Tinie Tempah
has his eyes covered with the colour red. This shows
complete power although you can not see his eyes, we
see a very serious expression on his face which is telling
us that he’s not afraid to address to the public. In
addition he’s topless showing all his muscles, this tells
us that he is trying to make everyone feel intimidated.
On the other hand when looking at Cee
Reality’s CD cover we see similarities as he is
looking straight at the camera, although his
eyes are not covered we still see dominion as
he looks directly at the camera showing no
fear.
5. Character representation text
In addition the style of text in the CD cover is very similar to one of the
pioneers of rap (sugar hill gang) which can show that he’s showing a
sign of respect to them.
6. Mise-en-scene - setting
There’s not a wide range of setting in the music video as we thought it would only be
appropriate to use 3 to 4. There’s a setting where the rapper is walking on a high road,
this shows that he lives in this urban lifestyle.
In addition we see the rapper performing in the stage room and this shows that he’s
performing live to an audience on a actual stage.
Another set which was used is where we see the rapper in a studio, this is showing us
how the rapper makes his music.
7. Mise-en-scene – costume
There’s not a wide range of costume in the video, however we see the
rapper wearing a hoodie tracksuit in one scene which shows us his type of
lifestyle and everyday living. In addition in another scene when he’s in the
stage room he’s wearing all black and black is an indication of power,
viewers could be thinking that the artist is trying to become more
sophisticated.
8. Mise en scene – props
There’s really not many props in the video as they were not
needed. However we see beats pill showing an indication of
the rappers love of music and how it’s all he’s depending on
in order to get a better life. In addition there’s a mask which
is worn by the artist which shows paranoia as well as self
consciousness, however it could also show sides of horror.
