11. PLOT SYNOPSIS
There was a twin named Bulanawan and Aguio. Their mother brought Bulanawan to the field
together with her to pick up cotton. She had spread cotton fibers around the child but as the wind grew
stronger, the cotton wound the child and he was carried out to a distant land far away where he grew
up and became a formidable warrior.Bulanawan took a rest when he and his wife were walking along
the shore. But meanwhile, Aguio had set on a journey to that place and saw Bulanawan's beautiful wife.
He tried to steal Bulanawan's wife because he had found her beautiful. Bulanawan woke up and fought
Aguio, not knowing they are brothers. The two brothers fought each other until their weapons are
broken while the Earth is trembling although they were far away. They get near each other and the
Earth trembled much harder. Because of the hard fought battle, Langgona who is father of the twins,
tried to get in between the battle to stop it. But his interference made the matter much worse and they
both began to fight their own father that made a great disturbance to Earth and left it falling to pieces.
Then the father of Langgona settled the trouble. Then Bulanawan and Aguio knew that that
peacemaker is their grandfather and that they are twins brothers.

13. CONFLICT TYPE
The narrative has a Man vs. Man type of conlflict. The twin
brothers, Bulanawan and Aguio, go against each other in
dispute over a girl. They fought each other to settle their
dispute making everything around them to collapse. It also
features both of them fighting their father which makes it a
threeway fight of men.
15. SYMBOLISM
Bulanawan and Aguio doesn't have symbolisms at all. But the story
reflects the greed of people like the attempt of Aguio to steal a girl from
someone to himself, some of the people nowadays will do anything to get
what they want regardless of how would they do it. It also reflects the
misunderstanding and ignorance of people like how the twins fought each
other without knowing that they are brothers, some people will carry out
an action without knowing what they are doing until they are slapped with
the truth. And it shows how people can be affected by anger, anger clouds
their mind and turns them into savages that does things without any
considerations.
16. PLOT DEVICES
Poetic justice is one of the most common tropes in literature (and
fiction in general), likely because it tends to set up a neat, ‘happy ending’
to a story. The Philippine folklore story Bulanawan and Aguio is a poetic
justice because this story set up a neat, happy ending, for example is when
all were at peace again they discovered that Aguio and Bulanawan were
brothers and the grandsons of the peacemaker.
