INTRODUCTION
Period of schooling is most crucial for each and every
individual student usually face problems when they enter
adolescent stage because they face various challenges
like peer pressure, physical and emotional changes,
academic pressure etc. At this stage they are unable to
take the right decision. This is the stage where they need
the help of elderly people like parents or teachers. Here
is a case which worried all teachers.
CASE – 1 (ABHIJIT NAYAK)
I met a child last year when school was reopened after corona
period. He was in class IX – C, Now in Class – X (c). I tried to
know about each & every child's academic and other progress.
I found the boy unusually poor in academics. It seemed to me
that the boy's academic age is perhaps 6/7 because what he
was writing he did not know.
The boy was hyperactive. Behavior was unpredictable.
Punishment did not bother him. He used to disturb a lot in the
class. No one was ready to sit with him.
He was given a single seat so that other will not be disturbed.
When a test was conducted he was unable to write a single
meaningful sentence.
One positive aspect I could notice i.e. his interest in games and
sports. Perhaps that was the only area which gave him little
satisfaction.
Teachers who were handling him counseled
him in a number of ways. But his behavior
did not change. His academic aspect did not
improve.
His father also came.
His father is working in a far away private
farm. He does not remain always with him.
He expressed his helplessness to change the
child.
All the teachers taking his class are worried.
How he will get through the board exam?
How his behavior can be changed?
When we counsel him he does not react. It
seems that he understands what wrong
things he has done. But he never changes
his activities.
CASE – 2 (CHINMAY CHIRANTAN)
In this current session a boy took admission in
IX-C. From the beginning of the session he
did not come to the class. His parents stay in
the surrounding rural area. They part him in
the hostel so that he can come to school
regularly.
I noticed a peculiar problem with the boy. He
does not bring required copy, book diary to the
class. Not able to differentiate which one is
which copy. Writes everything in one copy,
does not do home work, Class works he
writes sometimes but not systematically. Time
sense is less, always comes late after
breakfast and after lunch. Punishment does
not bother him.
He Sleeps in the class. Other children do not
like to mix with him. When tests are conducted
he is able to write few correct sentences.
CONCLUSION
In my opinion he is not dull. Counseling in a
concerted manner by a team may be helpful.
His parent came to school and discussed with
Principal sir. The child was taken home for few
days. But when he returned much change was
not noticed.
I discussed with the hostel warden Mr.
Chittaranjan. He says that the boy is not
having a good sleep at night. Sometimes
roams around on the roof aimlessly. He does
not remain neat and clean.
I discussed with the child alone as I have
heard that the child was a good student. He
could not tell anything about his problem. Only
thing is he does not feel like studying.
