REPORT WRITING OF A CASE STUDY
 A classroom of students of the age 9 and 10 years old in a primary
school studying in the Vth standard is chosen for the purpose of
studying the behavioral issues and to design effective interventions
to manage it. The total number of students in the classroom was 30.
The method used to collect the necessary data is through direct
observation. All the required permissions and consent were taken
before the observation was made. Both the teacher and the students
were observed for a period of 45 minutes.
OBSERVATIONS :
 Based on the observation done it was found that Fred ,an 11 year old boy studying in the
Vth standard have some behavioral issues along with some learning difficulties. To gain
more understanding of the observations of this child , interactions with the child and
teacher was made respectively which helped to understand the issues of the child.
 He does not like to involve or participate in any sort of classroom interactions and
curricular activities. He is nervous around new people and tend to become more quiet and
reserved in those situations.
 In case of academics he is not interested in studying and so it is very difficult to teach him.
He does not do his classwork and homeworks and is least bothered and most of the time he
remains absent. He does not concentrate in the class ,whenever any question was asked to
him he is not able to provide any answers. But on the other hands he was interested in
reading comic books or any story book of his interest and it was found that he was reading
a comic book while the teacher was teaching.
 He has verbal outbursts such as yelling and throwing classroom materials and books onto
the floor when asked to do a given academic task repeatedly if he doesn’t want to do,
yelling at other students and becomes aggressive sometimes if they disturb him.
 He doesn’t make friends easily and does not have any good friends.
CONCLUSION :
 The results of the observations showed that the child has disruptive behavior in the
classroom merely not paying attention to what the teacher says and lacks behind in
academics as he is not bothered about his studies . It is also seen that the child becomes
anxious and uncomfortable in social interactions and therefore tend to remain away from
such situations. Probable reasons that can lead to such behaviors might be the family
environment, shyness , anxiety, avoided by all ,problem in interacting with others, slow
learner.
 Poor or bad behavior can also become a barrier to learning and performing academically
well , so it is very important that the teacher is able to identify and deal with the problem
appropriately and create a healthy classroom environment where students feel safe, valued
and equal. Teachers sometimes come across such serious problems like defiance or
aggression or more serious, these kinds of behaviors are disruptive when it comes to
teaching. Disruptive behavior may be handled by the teacher’s ability to effectively tackle
through their approach and provide instruction.
IMPLICATION OF THE STUDY :
 Classroom management creates the sense of fairness in children environment . The teacher
should built a healthy and fair classroom environment where each of the students feel their
self worth, importance and valued by paying equal amount of attention to every child
without being partial and judgemental. By buiding this form of classroom setting ,it can
benefit in ways such as the children may come forward with their opinions and openly
participate in classroom interactions as they will be comfortable with the classroom
environment . In order to prevent disruptive behavior in the classroom, the teachers have to
establish certain norms that allows you to react effectively in the moment.
It is necessary to built rapport with the children so building trust is important for children
so that the children opens up to the teacher and shares about certain issues . The teacher
should make the child feel that they are always there for him or her .
 There are several strategies that can be implemented for better classroom management as it
is an important aspect which creates and sustains an orderly learning environment in the
classroom , improves meaningful academic learning and fosters social-emotional growth
and it also increases students academic engagement and lowers the inappropriate classroom
behavior.
RECOMMENDATIONS :
 In the moment when the child (Fred) shows disruptive behavior, stay calm, steady and firm.
 Acknowledge the feelings of the individual as most of the times disruptive behavior is caused by
stress or frustration.
 Pay attention to what the child does and says and try to understand the problem faced by the child
and work on finding a solution to it rather than ignoring or being strict to the child.
 The child in this case needs special attention as he becomes very anxious and uncomfortable in
social interactions . The teacher should try talking to the child and make him talk to other
classmates as it will help him to overcome anxiety in social situations.
 Boost the child’s self-esteem by making them to face their uncomfortable situations .By helping
him built self-esteem,the teacher lets him know that he is valued and important.
 Different learning techniques should be used to help the child regain his focus on learning such
as, visual learning techniques, auditory learning techniques.
 Give positive feedback, rewards to motivate the child to give his best in any pursuit and pay more
attention in the class and participate in classroom activities and also punish the child when
required so that the child gains an understanding of the difference between right and wrong
behavior.
