1. Dear Madams and Sirs,
I am writing this letter of recommendation for David Timmel. Let me start by
saying, you need to hire this young man.
David walked into our shop over a year ago as a recent college graduate and asked for an
intern position. Based on his coursework and his ability to set, execute and then achieve
life goals, i.e., college graduation, Orange County Information Technologies offered him
an unpaid intern position. David quickly demonstrated his technical acumen, but more
importantly his ability to apply that acumen in a way that supported each and every
member of our department. When given a task, David's usual response was a quick node
of the head and shortly thereafter he would close the feedback loop by saying, I am
finished. As an intern, David knew when to ask for help when tasked with problems
beyond his ability. As you know, this combination of getting things done without
instruction and knowing when to ask for instruction is not only a critical service delivery
skill, but it is also critical communication skill.
Our organization quickly realized David's value and Orange County Government
Information Technologies offered him a paid position within our organization. We have
seen many interns come and go, but David's work stood out enough to for us to offer him
a job.
If you are looking for a consistent, accurate, skilled technician and pleasant person with
whom to work, look no further.
As you can tell from this recommendation, I like David. I never met David before he
applied for our position. When David walked into my office for his interview, I thought,
"ok, let's see how he does". With that said, allow me to close this letter of
recommendation with the following statement. David is a fine young man and when
given opportunity, he excels. He is an excellent technician and his ability to get along
with his co-workers proves itself every day. It will be exciting to continue watch this
young man achieve success in all of his professional endeavors.
Please feel free to contact me directly as I am his supervisor and I would welcome the
opportunity to expand upon how David Timmel will not only add to your organization's
bottom line, but enhance your organizations ability to deliver excellent customer service.
