Directors Penny Smee and Martin Jones
following their own experiences of recruiting
staff within the financial services sector.
Over a period of 20 years, it became clear to
them that most recruitment agencies had no
real understanding of the industry and the
legislation that governed it.
As a result, it became increasingly difficult to
recruit for more senior roles, in areas such as
risk and compliance, or heads of departments.
Over the years, they tried numerous agencies,
many who specialised in financial services.
However, the truth is, if you haven’t worked in
financial services and recruited as a client, you
really can’t understand fully a client’s needs or
identify their perfect candidate.

4. We don’t believe in charging extortionate fees for our services. Our
average fee is 12% rising to 15% for senior roles. Free replacement to
our clients in the first 12 weeks if, for whatever reason, it doesn’t work
out with your new member of staff.

5. • In most cases, we will confirm the offer in to
the candidate on behalf of the client.
• Although we will telephone the candidate,
where possible we ask for their job
acceptance in writing.
• During the period between offer and
start date, we will stay in contact with the
candidate to ensure outside influences
do not affect the process and impact the
commencement of employment.
• After the first day at work, we will check all
is well and feed back any negatives. We will
continue weekly for the first 12 weeks.

• We, unlike many agencies, speak to every
candidate that applies to us. Why? Because
there is more to a person than a CV and, from
experience, quite a few good candidates are
missed by agencies due to skimming CVs
Likewise, some candidates have extremely
impressive CVs but not always the attributes
they describe on them.
• We will interview the candidate and match
their skills and experience, and evaluate if
they will have a cultural fit in your business.
• We will only forward the CV to you for
consideration if we are satisfied they are a
potential recruit.

time and location for the interview.
• We will ensure that the candidate is aware of
the objectives of the interview.
• The candidate will also be fully aware of
the responsibilities of the role and the full
job description. We will spend time running
through this with them.

straight after the interview to gain a thorough
understanding of their thoughts on the
position and their interest in moving forward.
6. Martin Jones

My background has always been in starting up new
businesses and new divisions of existing companies. Having
worked in a variety of industries over the years, the one thing
that doesn’t change is that your company is only as good as

Having been instrumental in creating a highly successful
mortgage broker / packager, I understand the importance

Director
My background is as a Director of sales in the financial
services industry running multiple call centres, including
off-shore. I have been lucky enough to start a call centre from
nothing and take it to a turnover in excess of £15 million.
I understand how difficult it is to find agencies that
understand the business you are in and then transfer that
knowledge to recruiting staff that are a company, cultural and
ability fit. Unfortunately, many agencies just send endless
CV’s through in the hope one of them will fit your needs,
which wastes yours and the candidates’ time.
