2. Idea 1
My first idea is based on the conventional ideas when it comes to the romance genre. I
want to do a ending scene from a film between an older married couple it will show
common conventions between them shown in the romance genre.
I would follow a very basic storyline with the male character not wanting to be in love
however, overtime he will start to fall in love with the female character and then they
would live happily ever after.
3. How idea one would link to my essay:
This will link to my essay because I looked at how relationships and mostly women are
represented through the film and because of this showing very stereotypical
conventions of the female gender. This would also link because in my films for
example in Two Night Stand, Pillowtalk and That Awkward Moment, all the males
don’t fall in love with the girl straight away they want to be more of a lay around type
of guy however in the end they always seem to fall in love.
4. How I would link it conventionally:
Within my films there is a lot of back and forward with the relationship as the progress
either hating each other at the start or not wanting to be in love at all so to go along
with this common convention within the films that I watched I am going to use
editing.
This editing would be used to use flashbacks to a time where they wasn’t in love and
how they hated each other and had to interested but slowing showing how they came
together. This would be a very iconic type of way to do my film with the actors sitting
talking about how they fell in love because it is conventional within the romance
genre.
5. Idea 2
This is going to be the opposite of my first idea because it is going to be a very
unstereotypical like most of the films that I looked at, because of his I might do
something like my year 12 film and show a very unstereotypical female protagonist.
It will show her not really caring about love at all she will just want to be by herself
and it will kind of be a scene that is very normal but, I want to show it in a very
different way.
6. How this would link to my essay:
This would link to my essay because I was looking at how the genre roles have
changed overtime, and with my findings I have found out that they have changed
throughout time. This would be obvious to my findings because I found out that Rom-
Coms have changed dramatically it some ways for example women don't just want
marriage anymore and in a weird way (because they are shown as promiscuous) they
are becoming more independant. Because of this doing a female protagonist that is
shown to not want marriage or the typical old school role for a women it means it
would show that i have recognised the change within the genre.
7. How I would link it conventionally:
This film will mostly be showing the female character just being a lay around, but I
would like to include some ideas for editing from Two Night Stand. The idea would be
to use editing to add in the text messages onto the screen to make it obvious to the
audience that the female character is talking to multiple male characters.
8. Idea 3
This third idea would be based around a abusive relationship. It will have many roles
but mostly will be based around the idea that men don’t want to be trapped into a
relationship. The male character will be drinking coming home late and trying to
manipulate his partner into sex. This will link into my essay because throughout i
showed that conventional a man doesn’t want to have one relationship and isn't really
as interested in a family life what is shown throughout with him just working avoiding
the kids and coming home late. However, when the female character leaves he wants
her back and tries to get her redemption.
9. The idea of redemption in my last idea is another way to show how all the male
characters in the films end up finding their “Soulmate” and falling in love with them. I
want to use editing in this one to also show flashback of the tough time but then also a
voiceover reversed flashbacks to show how we would of wanted things to go.
