DITTE DITTA MATHTHAM BHAVISSATHI – Seeing is seeing only. (Lord Buddha)
This is deep Damma uttered by the Lord Buddha to a person called Baheeya daruchiriya, when
he asked Damma in a nutshell. It is said that, he quickly realized it & became an Arahant.
Shall we observe what the Lord Buddha has said?
This is an example.
Look at your Mother. Wherever, whenever you meet her, you can quickly recognize her as your
Mother.
Shall we observe this phenomenon?
2. First, when you look at, you see the picture of your Mother. It is only a picture. Nothing more
than that.
In the name of modern science, the picture of your Mother is created inside your eye TO
WHICH MIND GIVES YOU THE NAME, “MOTHER” FROM ITS MEMORY CHIP SO
THAT YOU CAN SEE A “MOTHER” NOW.
Does the word “Mother” embed in her body?
Suppose you mother was not with you for a long duration, can you recognize her at your first
glance as your Mother?
The names given to everything in this universe is like this. I.e. to the eye picture, NAME IS
GIVEN BY MIND FROM ITS MEMORY CHIP.
Names obtained from the teachings & preaching you heard from your birth up to your death.
See! There is a nice story behind it.
ALL NAMES ARE MAN- MADE & NOT ACTUALLY EXISTING.
WHAT YOU HAVE IN YOUR EYE IS A PICTURE ONLY. ROTATE YOUR HEAD 360
DEGREES & SEE; YOU HAVE A PICTURE ONLY IN YOUR EYE.
SO, THE PICTURE TO YOUR ADDED NAME, IS THE WORLD.
What the Lord Buddha has told was this reality in his sermon given above.
You have the “Seeing” only. Others are added.
So, Buddha asks lay people to come to this position through meditation so that you can see this
reality.
Thank you.
