2. • Nis is the biggest city in south Serbia, and is the center of Nisava's
administrative district.
• In the area of Nis, based on the information from 2011, lived more
than 260 000, while in Nis itself lived around 183 000 people.
3. • This number makes Nis the third
city by the size in Serbia.
• It is placed 237 km south-east
from Belgrade (the capital city).
• The surface area of Nis is more
than 596 km², including 68
suburbs and Nis spa.
4. • Many people meaningful for the
city, and also our country were
born in Nis.
• Scientists, artists, polititians,
writers... - and this is just a part
of the list.
5. • Grammar School ‘9.maj’ is the
youngest of the four grammar
schools in Nis, Serbia.
• Situated in a peaceful part of
the city centre, our grammar
school is accessible to everyone
and, at the same time, close to
all relevant educational and
cultural institutions.
6. • The building is old but has seen
many renovations so now in it there
are 30 well-equipped classrooms,
the staff room and the gym.
• Every day more than 700 students
and almost 90 teachers and staff
members spend their time in it
exploring various subjects,
discussing burning scientific and
social issues and finding solutions to
different problems.
7. • Our school is famous for its
specialized classes for talented
athletes and future IT
professionals.
• Our students, who are our greatest
asset, have participated in
numerous competitions and
projects and our student
parliament has organized various
humanitarian activities and events
with the aim of helping people and
children in need.
8. • All of us who have invested our
effort, time and knowledge in
improving our school are proud
of the spirit it cherishes, our
students’ achievements and
success in their further
education and life choices.
