2. ABOUT US
• Culture Bridge North East (CBNE) is one of 10 Bridge
Organisations in England funded by Arts Council England.
• Our role is to supporting the strategic development of arts and
cultural education by, with and for children and young people.
• We want everyone growing up in this region to have a
childhood rich in arts and culture. We believe that arts and
culture in education can create a spark which will inspire future
artists, performers, makers and curators.
• Taking part enables children and young people to make
meaning, discover connections with others, find and develop
their own unique talents and build the confidence, resilience
and transferable skills that will set them up for life.

Embedding of Arts Council England ‘Let’s
Create’ vision for the next 10 years, "By
2030, we want England to be a country in
which the creativity of each of us is valued
and given the chance to flourish, and
where every one of us has access to a
remarkable range of high-quality cultural
experiences".

Addressing the needs we know our
education sector, cultural sector and
children and young people are facing now
and emerging needs.
4. OUR PRIORITIES
Cultural sector support
Supporting the cultural sector in continued
work with the education sector to make
arts and culture accessible to every child
and young person with the aim of bringing
together and harnessing the combined
cultural learning offer in the region.
Education sector support
Supporting a strong cultural education offer
in schools, supporting schools to link
effectively to the cultural sector, upskill staff
and ensure that arts and culture is
accessible to every child and young person.
5. CROSS CUTTING THEMES
Youth voice
We understand the value of creativity and
culture and how access to the arts and
culture can deliver broad social benefits.
We will ensure that the voice of children
and young people is heard in the work we
deliver and we will work with schools and
the cultural sector to ensure youth voice
shapes delivery of cultural and creative
learning.
Equity, equality and diversity
Ensuring equity, equality and diversity in
our work, working to ensure that all
schools are aware of the CBNE offer to
support children and young people’s
access to arts and cultural opportunities to
reach children and young people furthest
from accessing these experiences.
6. ARTS AWARD
• Arts Award supports children and young people to develop as artists and arts leaders. It
deepens engagement with arts and culture, develops both creative and leadership skills.
• Arts Award leads to a national qualification. Through its five levels, children and young
people can explore any art form.
• Provision of advice to organisations whether you’re getting started with Arts Award,
developing it further, or would just like to know more.
• Delivered by our partners, The Customs House.
7. ARTSMARK
• Artsmark is the creative quality standard for schools accredited by Arts Council England.
• Artsmark provides a clear framework for teachers to plan, develop and evaluate arts,
culture and creativity across the curriculum.
• We support schools at all stages of their Artsmark journey, providing training, advice, and
introductions to leading cultural organisations.
• Delivered by our partners, The Forge.
8. LOCAL CULTURAL EDUCATION PARTNERSHIPS (LCEPS)
• Local Cultural Education Partnerships bring together representatives from the education,
arts and culture sectors to engage more children and young people with high quality arts
and culture.
• Culture Bridge North East supports the development of these partnerships in every part of
the region.
• 8 LCEPs across the North East in each Local Authority Area.
• Partnership Investment supports the development of innovative, sustainable ideas and
relationships that embed cultural education.
9. CULTURAL
LEADERSHIP
IN EDUCATION
• This programme supports senior and middle leaders in
schools to gain the knowledge, capacity and skills to lead
development, inspire colleagues, build partnerships, and
to ensure that arts and cultural activity has impact on
pupils.
• Those who have completed the course speak of the
power of cultural learning for children and young people,
how it encourages innovative thinking, and feel they are
better informed about local and national organisations and
arts developments.
• Delivered by our partners, Newcastle University.
10. CBNE FUND
• Our fund provides grants of up to £1,500 to support
collaborations between education and youth
settings, arts practitioners and
cultural organisations anywhere in the North East.
• Priority is given to projects which improve access to
high quality arts provision for those who would
otherwise face barriers to taking part.
• Delivered in partnership with the Community
Foundation, Tyne and Wear and Northumberland.
11. 'IMAGINE IF...'
ANNUAL
CONFERENCE
Exploring and showcasing cultural education in the North
East and beyond. It brings together school leaders,
teachers and cultural practitioners to celebrate the work
taking place in the region, look forward, support
the direction of travel and signpost future development.

12. TEACHER CPD PROGRAMME
• Compendium – online resources.
• CreatED is our online CPD training
series for primary school teachers.
• Gives primary school teachers the
confidence and tools to broaden and
enhance their curriculum through
arts and culture.
13. NATIONAL BRIDGE WORK
Joint working with all 10 Bridges - number of focus areas at present:
• Youth Voice
• Early Years
• Care Experienced young people and Virtual School
• Inclusivity
• Targeted support e.g. Lets Create / Lets Craft packs in partnership with Children North
East
