2. Introduction
• The industrial demand for phytase with high specific activity and stability under
high temperature conditions during feed pelleting and under acidic conditions
in the stomach of monogastric animals continues to stimulate the search for
new enzyme sources.
• Enzyme preparations with phytases derived from Aspergillus
Peniophora lycii and Escherichia coli are available commercially.

• More recently, a new microbial 6-phytase produced by synthetic genes,
mimicking a gene from Citrobacter braakii, was introduced into the market.
In the present study, the efficacy of 6-phytase products derived from
Citrobacter braakii, Peniophora lycii and Escherichia coli was compared in

Animals: 8 x 20 male broiler (Ross
PM3) / treatment
Allocation: floor pen
Duration: day 1 to 35 of bird age

PHY1 (C. braakii)
PHY2 (P. lycci)
PHY3 and PHY4 (E. coli)

2 regimes: starter (day 1 to 21) and
grower (day 22 to 35)
Feeding: pellets, ad libitum

12. Conclusions
The results on the present trial, showed that phytase supplementation
was effective in improving the growth performance, ileal phosphorus
digestibility and the bone mineralization parameters when included in
the low phosphorus diet
PY1 and PHY4 supplementation resulted in better effects in terms of
performance compared to PHY2 and PHY3 and led to similar effects
when compared to PC
The parameters of bone mineralization and of apparent ileal
digestibility of P were comparable among the supplemented phytase
treatment
