The village had issues with water supply as some houses had their own submersible motors and irregular water connections. The Punjab government launched a World Bank project to provide safe drinking water. A village water works was constructed with a silver ionized plant but villagers were not using it for drinking, only for cattle and other uses. Students from Satya Bharti School educated villagers on proper water usage and prevention of water borne diseases, motivating them to use the treated water. Now 80 homes have regular connections and use the water works water for drinking and daily needs.

direct beneficiaries in this project and their
participation is very much needed to take
care of Operation and Maintenance (O&M) of
this scheme. Since people are the owners of
the scheme, Gram Panchayat Water and
Sanitation Committee (GPWSC) are formed
in target villages and elected members of the

It is estimated that 21 per cent
of communicable diseases in
India are associated with
unsafe water.

10. Students motivated the community people regarding the
conservation of water. The hand pump water can be used for
washing clothes, utensils, toilets etc. To prevent the misuse of
safe & potable drinking water pushing taps can be used

 THEY ALSO MOTIVATE THE OTHER PEOPLE FOR THE
USE OF THIS CLEAN & SAVE WATER.
 NOW COMMUNITY MEMBERS SPECIALLY LADIES ARE
AWARE ABOUT WATER BORN DISEASES.
