2. One of the poorest regions of Sao Paulo state the Vale Histórico
comprises 7 municipalities (population 50.000) which preserve
local biomas, architecture and rural culture. The region is
dealing with the dangers and opportunities related with a growing
number of visitors. In this context, 25 small local entrepreneurs
associated in order to steer the development of tourism activities
towards sustainability.

Operational ARCCO is the most important achievement and some important
new partnerships with other actors in the region are happening.

4. So far the designer role in ARCCO has been common to all other
actors, to act politically as a group. The designer role at Sala
Verde Sertões da Bocaina is related to planning, developing
educational projects, special furniture and equipment.
