Sergeant assigned to the Juvenile Intervention and Support Center. My
duties included being the Third Watch, Watch Coordinator. This
position involved approving arrest reports of juveniles arrested and
processing the Juvenile offenders at the JISC. This position also
encompassed obtaining social services for the Juvenile to help them
change there anti social tendencies.
January 2004 – January 2011
Sergeant assigned to the Deployment Operations Center. My duties
include being the Third Watch, Watch Commander. This includes
overseeing the Counter Terrorism Section, the Gang Analyst Section
which analyzes gang shootings that occur through out the day. Mentor
new analysts assigned to Deployment Operations. This unit has been
responsible for a major drop in Homicides and Aggravated Batteries in
the City of Chicago. Was responsible for the weekly production of the
Deployment Operations Sheet which gave a synopsis of gang related
conflicts in each district when the Deployment Operations Center was
producing this information packet. Was also responsible for the weekly
Closed Market Sheet which informed Officers of specific gang, narcotic
and school problems affecting certain targeted Districts. Monitored
Homeland Security events around the world. Also the acting Watch
Commander in the Crime Prevention and Information Center (CPIC).
Oversee live intelligence gathering and the Data Mining of that
Intelligence to help solve violent crime and detect terrorism nexus.
June 2001 - January 2004
Sergeant assigned to the 14 th
District. Supervising Sergeant for the
late rapid response cars and the incident cars, as well as a Beat Team
Leader for beat 1434. Other duties included being the Supervisor of
the Field Training Officers on my watch. The first Sergeant to initiate
and coordinate the Milwaukee Avenue detail. I supervised fourteen
Police Officers on this detail. This detail is similar to the Rush Street
Detail.
March 2000 - June 2001
Assigned to Youth Investigations, Special Investigations Unit. Duties
consisted of follow up investigations of Offenses Involving Children.
These investigations included crimes that were committed against
children by employees of day care centers, schools or churches that
the children attended. The Special Investigations Unit investigates
crimes against children that involve family members when the
offender is a City of Chicago employee. The Special Investigation Unit
investigates Sexual Exploitation of children via the Internet. This
assignment required lengthy investigative reports, detailed
interviewing of witnesses, victims and offenders. This assignment
requires case presentation for Felony criminal trials.
November 1996 - March 2000
Assigned to Area Five Youth Investigation. Duties consisted of follow- up
investigation of Offenses Involving Children. These investigations included
any crime committed against a person under the age of eighteen. This
assignment required lengthy investigative reports, detailed interviewing of
witnesses, victims and suspects of criminal offenses involving children. This
assignment requires case presentation for Felony criminal trials. Led the
unit in handling Offenses Involving Children cases and led the unit in arrests
involving sexual and physical abuse of children.
February 1996 - November 1996
Assigned to Intelligence Section of the Organized Crime Division. Duties
included protection of local and visiting dignitaries, background
investigation of organized crime figures, investigation of cloned phone
operations, federal and state over hears.
August 1995 - February 1996
Assigned to the Organized Crime Division, Gambling Unit where organized
crime gambling investigations were conducted. These duties required long-
term investigations of organized crime figures, search warrant preparation
and execution.
January 1993 - August 1995
Assigned to Special Operations Section, which included working crime
patterns, crowd control for city events, led the unit in arrest activity for
numerous periods. Member of Hostage Barricade Team (H.B.T.).
August 1991 - January 1993
Assigned to Gang Crimes Unit - North. These duties included suppression of
gang activity from various directions. This assignment required knowledge
of specific gang activity..
August 1988 - August 1991
Assigned to 23rd
Police District which included normal patrol duties including
the training of new recruits as a Patrol Specialist
