Dyspnea Essay
Dyspnea was the commonest symptoms seen in all patients followed by cough and fever. Half of the patients had crackles on examination, and half
were hypoxic at rest. Chest x ray showed some abnormality in 80% of cases. CT of chest is more sensitive and showed ground glass densities in
65% of cases followed by nodules in 53%. Pulmonary functions tests revealed obstruction in one third of cases. Most cases were diagnosed based on
sputum examination. Transbronchial biopsy was able to establish diagnosis 75% of cases. Biopsy showed granuloma in 92% of cases. One third of
patients received Antimycobacterial drugs alone and 16% of patients received steroids alone. The specific dose and duration of steroids is not reported
accurately in literature and hence the optimal regime of steroid therapy is not known. If antimycobacteral treatment is considered, then American
Thoracic Society(ATS) recommends treatment with three drug Azithromycin/Clarithromycin, Ethambutol and Rifampin for 12 to 18 months. While
23% of patients received both treatment, 20% of patients were not given any specific treatment except abstinence from source. Despite of the type of
treatment regime used, clinical response was seen in all patients and 60% patients showed complete resolution. No death due to HTL has been reported

Expository Essay On Into The Wild
Into the Wild ā€“ Expository Essay An outstanding young man, helped the poor, in high school participated in crossā€“country, intelligent. He was healthy,
he sang and performed instruments. Moreover, all that was mentioned, for Christopher, wasn't enough. He had still a need; a necessity that required
discovering in a way outside the commonplace, the wonders, mysteries and obstacles that nature has with it. Thus one day,Christopher McCandless, a

problems and conflicts that exist in civilization, feeling the tranquility that gives its essence, the energy that nature gives to the human being, the
peace that gives to the mind and much more for Chris was a complete sensation. Chris got inspired by Jack London, an American novelist, who wrote
"To Build a Fire" where he quotes "Empty as the mind was of thoughts, he was keenly observant, and he noticed the changes in the creek, the curves
and Bends and timber jams, and always sharply noted where I have placed his feet. " Saying how a man in pure nature does not put thoughts that are
useless in the mind, as most in society do now, stagnate in thoughts without any benefit. Man in nature focuses on survival, using his experiences to
survive, being aware of his surroundings. Chris McCandless wanted to experience the same thing, so he decided and went to Alaska and challenge
himself.

Liberal Arts Education Essay
A liberal arts education is one that, by definition, focuses not on one specific subject, but rather prepares its student by giving them knowledge in many
areas and developing the student's critical thinking that will allow them to adapt to an everā€“changing world. Naturally, this means students at a
university that employs a liberal arts education take classes outside their major. Students of the humanities or social sciences must enroll in courses of
mathematics and natural sciences, and while many find no joy in such requirements, they better the individual and are helpful in everyday life, as well
as in larger issues. As Crane and Chiles so eloquently write, specifically of science, "Science matters at a liberalā€“arts university because the problems
facing our global community will not be solved by scientists alone." Mathematics as a subject acts in a similar way, giving skills to students,
nonā€“mathematics majors included, to help in their everyday lives or potentially to help the world....show more content...
To do that, Chopp argues that "What you have to do is to learn the very tools of learning itself. The liberal arts are...the gold standard for that" (qtd. in
Goral). Students, particularly those in the humanities and social sciences, are thus offered different methods of learning when classes stretch beyond
their major. As is an essential part of a liberal arts education, this breadth of knowledge enhances the critical and intellectual thinking of students that
otherwise might not have had the opportunity to do so. The creativity and pursuit of knowledge encouraged by nonā€“STEM majors has much to offer to
solve the problems of the world, and a basic understanding of mathematics and sciences means that these problems seem much more understandable,
their solutions more

Expository Essay Rough Draft
Expository Essay: Rough Draft Everyone can feel, just like you and I, but there's one important question that lingers through the air. Should we
really be accepting of other people? To answer the question, yes! Although this does speak from opinion, it's essential to be accepting of others. It's
understandable to find laboriousness when looking through others, but we need to remember the reasons why it's imperative. To start off, we're all
the same! We're all people, but sometimes, we seem to overlook that part of us. We all process the same way, and I feel as if that's a good enough
reason to find acceptance. Something else to remember is that we all have emotions. When we don't accept eachother for who we are, our emotions can

Essay about Gender Identity
The development of gender awareness is fundamental for our sense of self and is also predominant in any assessment made of another person as
from birth on people respond differently to males and females. Gender identity can be seen as one of the earliest social categories that children learn
to apply to both themselves and other people. This is suggested in Schaffer's (1996) definition where gender identity is the correct labelling of self and
others as male or female. There are three main theories that have been explored which all suggest multiple ways in which gender awareness is
developed: Bandura, Kohlburg and the Gender Scheme Theory. Firstly, Bandura (1977) notes that the idea that social influences clearly plays a very

Therefore, this shows that the development of gender awareness and identity has been the topic of many debates, thus showing how important the
development of gender awareness is.
Sex role development begins in infancy and is a basic component of a stable identity throughout life and it can be suggested that the key component
to identity formation are the social influences. This includes parental expectations, peer relationships and social experience that result in conforming
to the gender stereotypes. Research into this has explored the ways in which parents and children interact with each other. From the beginning,
parents tend to treat their child by their sex, ranging from the name given to the baby, to toys and furnishings. This, therefore, places the child into
one category or another. The seemingly simple act of decorating a room or providing access to various play things is intimately connected with
factors of adult influence. For example, this is shown in a study by Rheingold and Cook (1975) who showed how boys' rooms were more likely to
be blue and filled with toy vehicles, sports equipment and stereotypical male items. Girls' rooms on the other hand tended to be decorated with floral
wallpaper and lace, and would be more likely to contain dolls and more feminine objects. This experiment is supported

The Importance Of Expository Reading
Expository text is a very important form of reading material that is used to present content in different ways. Starting as early as kindergarten, children
should be able to identify the main topic, ask and answer questions, and describe connections between two different pieces of information (Roehling,
Hebert, Nelson, Bohaty, 2017). Teachers have problems with studentsreading expository text. It is sometimes more difficult to read than just regular
story reading. Hebert, Bohaty, Nelson, and Brown conducted a metaā€“analysis on text structure instruction, concluding that it was an effective way to
improve expository reading comprehension (Roehling, Hebert, Nelson, Bohaty, 2017).
Different strategies were developed to help with understanding expository reading comprehension. Teachers play a big role in helping the students
understand. They have to begin with clear learning objectives that outlines the skills teachers want their students to demonstrate by the end of the
instruction (Roehling, Hebert, Nelson, Bohaty, 2017). Once the teacher decides on the learning objective, they can plan specific instructional strategies
to help students achieve the objectives. If there is a clear goal from the teacher, things will be easier on the students. Identification strategies is a good
start in recognizing the structure of an expository text. There are two possible goals of identification strategies: to recognize a single text structure or to
discriminate among several possible text

Of Mice and Men Expository Essay
Of Mice and Men Expository Essay John Steinback's Of Mice and Men is a book that describes the chase of the American Dream. Although
achieving the American Dream is a great desire for all, seldom does it actually come true. George and Lennie, the two main characters in the book,
have a goal of pursuing their version of the American Dream, as do many other characters. However, due to relationships and other conflicts, that
dream is not achieved. Almost immediately, Steinback poses the question of whether or not companionship leads to failure of the American Dream.
For example, George says, "'Guys like us, that work on ranches, are the loneliest guys in the world. They got no family. They don't belong no place.
They come to a ranch an'...show more content...
Through these examples, and others found throughout the book, Steinback tells the reader that no goal is accomplished through isolation. If
isolation does not make for good outcomes, than it would seem that its opposite, companionship, should. For instance, George and Lennie's dream
only seems possible through their companionship and with the help of another friend, Candy. This is demonstrated where Steinback says, "They
fell into a silence. They looked at one another, amazed. This thing they had never really believed in was coming true."(60). This quote shows that
the "thing they had never really believed in" could happen through each other's contributions. Through companionship, each person would have to
raise less money and therefore the dream could come true, and could come true faster. Things are often easier, quicker, and less painless when one
has a partner to help them. It is only through their companionship that their dream seems possible. Once one of them is gone, the dream dies. This
is shown in the passage that says, Now Candy spoke his greatest fear. "You an' me can get that little place, can't we, George? You an' me can go there
an' live nice, can't we, George? Can't we?" Before George answered, Candy dropped his head and looked down at the hay. He knew. George said softly,

Everything Wrong With School In 10 Minutes or Less!
When I was twelve, I had no appreciation for school. I saw it as nothing more as a glorified daycare center with all the rules and regulations
specifically designed to restrict as much fun as possible. Then one day in the ninth grade, I had a revelation: what if school was actually meant to build
me up with knowledge and facts and not just waste my time? This was the foundation I needed to get me through the next four years. Whenever I was
bored, I would remind myself that I 'd never have a "free" education like this again. I adapted particularly well to this system of tests, quizzes, and
science labs but I could never understand the hang up some people had with it. School was basic and easy and all it seemed to require was
consistency an+d proper scheduling. I looked at people who couldn 't understand US History or Geometry and I thought they were dumb. It wasn 't
until much later with much more reflection that I came to conclude there 's a difference between how you score on the SATs and how smart you
actually are. Education isn 't necessarily a direct line to becoming intelligent and knowledgeable; education is nothing more than an institution designed
to equip people with subsets of specialized processing methodologies, algorithms, and a fair bit of esoteric trivia. Furthermore, the current educational
system in place is inefficient because of its rigid nature.

Reflection Of Expository Writing

Reflective Essay
I have been taking Expository Writing for 4 months. I have found that I need to be able to communicate myself in writing. I must relay exactly
what I'm trying to put forth to others and convey the right message of understanding. I must be able to explain myself, negotiate, and work in
teams. My language skills can be worked on and improved. I need to be able to pick up the language of whatever environment I'm in whether it be at
work or school, or in society. Since everyone does not have the same background, learning how to write the written word is important in any
environment. I have learned how to write and express myself, how to think for myself, and how to find answers to things I do not know. Most
important I have learned how to believe in my writing.
I was very hesitant in taking this English class, I have not taken an English class in many years. When I took the placement test for reading and
English, I tested out of all categories. I was proud of myself for that feat. When I found I was going to have to take a college level English class, I
avoided it at all costs. Too much pressure. However, I have learned about the Rhetorical Essay was to understand how an author writes and not focus
on what the content is. Knowing the explanation of what techniques and author uses to make their point come across to the intended audience. I
learned about Argumentative Research Paper is to debate both sides of an issue. The intent is to be unbiased and state the facts on either side. I
learned about Public Piece with Presentation is meant to deliver an effective presentation to engage your audience. Your audience listens to not only
what you are saying but your visual engagement in the topic being presented. Also, the point of the class is to be able to work with others to achieve
a desired outcome or task. To know that I can work with others in a cohesive environment to draw on everyone's input and views. This will assist me
in the real work of life and assist in handling many types of people and myself in communicating.
I have never been a good writer; however, I have learned that communication is not the same when writing. Having a conversation about aliens

Exploratory Essay On Abortion
Abortion has been one of the biggest controversies of all time. However many People agree to disagree on whether abortion is a legal or illegal
matter. Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy through removal of the embryo or fetus. I support abortion for the following reasons. Birth control
failure, unable to support or care for a child, to prevent a child with birth defects or medical conditions, and a pregnancy in resulting from rape or
incest. A woman should have the right to do what she pleases with her own body. For example, say a woman is pregnant with no desire of keeping the
child and there was no clinic to help her remove the fetus. She's most likely going to obtain matters into her own hands and figure a way to abort the
fetus herself. Why put women in that situation when they have highly trained doctors who can remove the fetus using the proper tools with no harm
done to the mother?...show more content...
In her mind, she thinks the method is a safe and a reliable source to not get pregnant but then does. Is that really fair to the women out there who try
their best to not get pregnant but do so anyways. It's a tuff situation for women who aren't ready to care for a child because her birth control didn't fall
through and protect her. Why should she be punished for being safe? Give her the option to discharge the pregnancy to continue on with her life with
not being responsible for a child she does not want or didn't intend to

Expository Essay: Chapter 1-6
The chapter starts off with a quote by one of the greatest poets, Robert Frost, and he says, "But God's own descent into flesh was meant as a
demonstration" (Yancey 127). When I read the whole quote, I was really confused. I did not understand it. The first three lines, however, I could
understand. God became human, which could be a demonstration. He took on the form of flesh because he wanted to show the world that the Savior
was here to save us. The only way he can save us is if he became one of us. Therefore, God becoming a human could be a demonstration. I agree with
Yancey when he wonders how different the world would be ifJesus did not resurrect from the dead (128). WouldChristianity still exist today? Would
the apostles still be afraid of spreading the Good News? There are so many questions about what would happen if Jesus did not resurrect himself from
the dead, but those questions will never be answered because Jesus did resurrect from the dead and saved us.
One thing I found interesting in this chapter was when an angel asked the apostles, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand here looking into the sky?"
(Yancey 129). I would be dumbfounded like the apostles if I witnessed Jesus ascending into the sky. It would have looked so cool, but I understand
why the apostles were actually...show more content...
This quote could not be truer. The apostles will become targets once Jesus ascends. They will be ridiculed, mocked, and persecuted because of the
things they preached and believed. Despite all of this, the apostles persevered and spread the Good News until the very end. When I saw the quote,
one thing came to my mind the most. All of the apostles except one died violent deaths because the apostles they would not stop preaching. That made
me realize Jesus' words were so true, and Jesus knew what was going to happen to his

Expository Essays : Unwind By Neal Shusterman
When you think of unwinding, you probably imagine yourself sun tanning and drinking a martini on the beach. You probably see all of your worries
disappear and paradise is very nearly near. In the breathtaking novel Unwind by Neal Shusterman, the teens of the world feel anything but relieved
when they hear the word. Instead, they envision a world in which they no longer exist. At least, not in the way they used to. Unwind is a novel set in a
dystopian society in a future time period, suffering the after effects of the Hartland War. The war was between the Pro
ā€“life and Proā€“choice sides of
society. A compromise was reached post war; it was called unwinding. Unwinding allowed teens to be harvested for all of their body parts. This
novel tells the tale of three main teens who are to be sacrificed for unwinding. Risa, Connor and Lev struggle to stay out of sight until their 18th year
when they will be considered free citizens. In Unwind, the story makes one question why a society would even consider something as radical and
inhumane as unwinding. From it, we can connect to times in our own history when we made less than ideal compromises and evaluate the concept of
unwinding as a whole.
Unwinding seemed to me, in a word, disgusting, and that is exactly what it was. Evaluating such a crime was not hard to do. In fact, while reading
this novel I found myself rather angry at the government of these people. I despised them for even thinking up such a thing as horrendous as to delete a

Instant Gratification And Its Effect On Society
Instant gratification is something that everybody is used to nowadays. Whether wanting to find an answer to a question, needing to add numbers
together or finding out if a pregnancy test is positive, answers come instantly. Most people do not realize that earlier generations did not have those
answers available in the blink of an eye. People had to wait for things. They had patience and realized that not everything in the world is instant. Society
now demands that everything should happen right away and we should not have to wait for anything, but that is making the world full of impatient,
entitled people. Since most people do not know what it's like to not have instant gratification most individuals take that for granted. Instant gratification
has caused a lot of problems in society, including taking away faceā€“toā€“face communication, patience, and certainty.
Problems With Living in a Society With Instant Gratification Instant gratification has become the social norm in this generation but is diminishing the
quality of communication. Cell phones have changed massively in the past few years, making communication weaken each time cell phones are
updated. At first, cell phones were just used for calling. Calling was the only operation that they were capable of and most of the time calling was not
even convenient on a cell phone. Although the concept of texting has been out for decades, actual texting became available to all society in 1994
(Turrettini). Texting instantly

You ever hear someone say they have swagger? A lot of times people's swagger is determined from their style. For example, everyone has a specific
style of fashion. If you put on some cargo shorts with a tank top and slides you're probably not going to a job interview. Just like anything else, writing
has different expressions. Writing is a form of communication; the person is writing to inform, persuade, describe, or tell a story. There are four main
types of writing styles, expository, persuasive, descriptive, and narrative. We then choose what we want to read according to our interest in each
category.
Let's look at expository writing. Expository writing is usually developed around one topic and is used to describe or inform you...show more content...
Its name might as well give it away. Think of a closing argument in a court case being presented to a jury. Each party's counsel is presenting a
persuasive writing in the form of a speech. In this type of writing the writer uses choice words in a cohesive manner in order to "sway" or persuade
the reader. You will most commonly come across this type of writing in advertisement. With that being said, persuasive writing is all around us. This
type of communication may consist of the writer's opinions, but the best form also includes facts to back up his or her statements. With attempts to get
consumers to purchase specific products, we see persuasive writings all around us in today's world.
"The battlefield had a cold malevolent air to it, the wind howling past you in every which way, as if trying to express its own confusion at the sudden

An anonymous soldier gives detailed picture of a battlefield scene. Descriptive writing, often used to portray a vivid, detailed experience, person,
place, or thing, is third of the writing styles. This style of writing requires strong observation skills to convey the writer's point of view. In personal
stories, you tend to see a lot of descriptive writing because it's the writer's story. He or she was there and can give several small

The Effects of Radiation Essay
The Effects of Radiation
Radiation is the emission of electromagnetic energy that is given off in the form of high speed particles that cause ionization. During ionization
radiation hits and knocks electrons from an atom creating charged ions. Due to the electron being stripped away from the atom this break the chemical
bond. Living tissue within the human body is damaged and attempts to repair it but sometimes the damage is beyond repair. Radiation can either be
ionizing or nonā€“ionizing depending on how the radiation itself affects matter. Nonā€“ionizing radiation includes visible light, heat, microwaves, and radio

Your DNA is what ensures cell repair and replacement and allows the body to produce an identical copy of the original cells. This type of change in
a person DNA is called a mutation. The body can sometimes repair or fail to repair mutations and even create mutations during repair. These mutations
can be teratogenic which occurs when a fetus still in the uterus is exposed and affects only the person who was exposed and genetic which is passed
on to offspring.
Nonā€“stochastic is associated with the nonā€“cancerous effects of radiation. Unlike stochastic health effects from nonā€“stochastic or acute exposure appear
a lot quicker. Acute health effects include burns, radiation sickness (also referred to as radiation poisoning), erythema, epilation, vomiting, diarrhea,
nausea and fatigue. The acute radiation syndrome has 4 stages: Prodromal, latent stage, manifest stage, and death/recovery stage. The prodromal stage
is the initial stage where you experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and fatigue. During the latent stage after about a week the patient feels fine and
has no symptoms. In the manifest stage the symptoms reappear and can last for hours or weeks. The symptoms during the manifest stage include
confusion, epilation (hair loss), diarrhea, infection (fever), hemorrhaging and hear failure. The death/recovery stage, a person will die if they receive
over 450 Rem of radiation.

How to Analyze an Expository Essay
Expository writing, in general, is present everywhere. When you pick up a magazine or examine a newspaper article on the newsstand, you are
reading a form of exposition because the author's main purpose of writing that article or essay is to inform the reader about a topic. In the classroom,
many students are required to produce research papers about a specific topic, such as migration patterns of birds. The purpose of that research paper is
to inform the reader, the teacher, about what are the migratory patterns of birds. Finally, at the workplace, many people are required to create business
reports and memorandums to inform their supervisors and coā€“workers about the company's finances and progress. In order to analyze these expository

"Good" directions for a process essay should satisfy the following criteria: clear, concise, organized, and acknowledges common mistakes. Within
the model essay itself, it satisfies all of these requirements. The text describes, "when you find water becoming extremely hot (or cold)," the
homeowner suggests that the guest, "exit the tub promptly while using a sweeping motion with one arm to push shower curtain aside"(Frazier

water from burning or freezing the guest. It is also concise because it does not include any irrelevant information pertaining to avoiding burning or
freezing the guest. This essay is organized because when the author listed out his or her directions, he or she listed them out in chronological order.
Lastly, "How to Operate the Shower Curtain" acknowledges common mistakes, such as "REMEMBER TO KEEP SHOWER CURTAIN INSIDE

Dyspnea Essay

  • 1. Dyspnea Essay Dyspnea was the commonest symptoms seen in all patients followed by cough and fever. Half of the patients had crackles on examination, and half were hypoxic at rest. Chest x ray showed some abnormality in 80% of cases. CT of chest is more sensitive and showed ground glass densities in 65% of cases followed by nodules in 53%. Pulmonary functions tests revealed obstruction in one third of cases. Most cases were diagnosed based on sputum examination. Transbronchial biopsy was able to establish diagnosis 75% of cases. Biopsy showed granuloma in 92% of cases. One third of patients received Antimycobacterial drugs alone and 16% of patients received steroids alone. The specific dose and duration of steroids is not reported accurately in literature and hence the optimal regime of steroid therapy is not known. If antimycobacteral treatment is considered, then American Thoracic Society(ATS) recommends treatment with three drug Azithromycin/Clarithromycin, Ethambutol and Rifampin for 12 to 18 months. While 23% of patients received both treatment, 20% of patients were not given any specific treatment except abstinence from source. Despite of the type of treatment regime used, clinical response was seen in all patients and 60% patients showed complete resolution. No death due to HTL has been reported till date. He was healthy, he sang and performed instruments. Moreover, all that was mentioned, for Christopher, wasn't enough. He had still a need; a necessity that required discovering in a way outside the commonplace, the wonders, mysteries and obstacles that nature has with it. Thus one day,Christopher McCandless, a newly graduated college student without preambles got rid of his belongings and money in bank accounts. Without giving even a note of warning to his parents and friends, he simply disappeared from society and no one knew what happened to him. The climactic battle to kill the false being within and victoriously conclude the spiritual revolution.... Ten days bring...him to the great white north. No longer poisoned by civilization he flees, and walks alone upon the land to become lost in the wild." ā€“Jon Krakauer on 'Into the Wild'. Chris valued nature over everything. Enjoying nature, breathing deeply, forgetting all the problems and conflicts that exist in civilization, feeling the tranquility that gives its essence, the energy that nature gives to the human being, the peace that gives to the mind and much more for Chris was a complete sensation. Chris got inspired by Jack London, an American novelist, who wrote "To Build a Fire" where he quotes "Empty as the mind was of thoughts, he was keenly observant, and he noticed the changes in the creek, the curves and Bends and timber jams, and always sharply noted where I have placed his feet. " Saying how a man in pure nature does not put thoughts that are useless in the mind, as most in society do now, stagnate in thoughts without any benefit. Man in nature focuses on survival, using his experiences to survive, being aware of his surroundings. Chris McCandless wanted to experience the same thing, so he decided and went to Alaska and challenge himself. • 3. Liberal Arts Education Essay A liberal arts education is one that, by definition, focuses not on one specific subject, but rather prepares its student by giving them knowledge in many areas and developing the student's critical thinking that will allow them to adapt to an everā€“changing world. Naturally, this means students at a university that employs a liberal arts education take classes outside their major. Students of the humanities or social sciences must enroll in courses of mathematics and natural sciences, and while many find no joy in such requirements, they better the individual and are helpful in everyday life, as well as in larger issues. As Crane and Chiles so eloquently write, specifically of science, "Science matters at a liberalā€“arts university because the problems facing our global community will not be solved by scientists alone." Mathematics as a subject acts in a similar way, giving skills to students, nonā€“mathematics majors included, to help in their everyday lives or potentially to help the world....show more content... To do that, Chopp argues that "What you have to do is to learn the very tools of learning itself. The liberal arts are...the gold standard for that" (qtd. in Goral). Students, particularly those in the humanities and social sciences, are thus offered different methods of learning when classes stretch beyond their major. As is an essential part of a liberal arts education, this breadth of knowledge enhances the critical and intellectual thinking of students that otherwise might not have had the opportunity to do so. The creativity and pursuit of knowledge encouraged by nonā€“STEM majors has much to offer to solve the problems of the world, and a basic understanding of mathematics and sciences means that these problems seem much more understandable, their solutions more Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Expository Essay Rough Draft Expository Essay: Rough Draft Everyone can feel, just like you and I, but there's one important question that lingers through the air. Should we really be accepting of other people? To answer the question, yes! Although this does speak from opinion, it's essential to be accepting of others. It's understandable to find laboriousness when looking through others, but we need to remember the reasons why it's imperative. To start off, we're all the same! We're all people, but sometimes, we seem to overlook that part of us. We all process the same way, and I feel as if that's a good enough reason to find acceptance. Something else to remember is that we all have emotions. When we don't accept eachother for who we are, our emotions can get Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Essay about Gender Identity The development of gender awareness is fundamental for our sense of self and is also predominant in any assessment made of another person as from birth on people respond differently to males and females. Gender identity can be seen as one of the earliest social categories that children learn to apply to both themselves and other people. This is suggested in Schaffer's (1996) definition where gender identity is the correct labelling of self and others as male or female. There are three main theories that have been explored which all suggest multiple ways in which gender awareness is developed: Bandura, Kohlburg and the Gender Scheme Theory. Firstly, Bandura (1977) notes that the idea that social influences clearly plays a very significant...show more content... Therefore, this shows that the development of gender awareness and identity has been the topic of many debates, thus showing how important the development of gender awareness is. Sex role development begins in infancy and is a basic component of a stable identity throughout life and it can be suggested that the key component to identity formation are the social influences. This includes parental expectations, peer relationships and social experience that result in conforming to the gender stereotypes. Research into this has explored the ways in which parents and children interact with each other. From the beginning, parents tend to treat their child by their sex, ranging from the name given to the baby, to toys and furnishings. This, therefore, places the child into one category or another. The seemingly simple act of decorating a room or providing access to various play things is intimately connected with factors of adult influence. For example, this is shown in a study by Rheingold and Cook (1975) who showed how boys' rooms were more likely to be blue and filled with toy vehicles, sports equipment and stereotypical male items. Girls' rooms on the other hand tended to be decorated with floral wallpaper and lace, and would be more likely to contain dolls and more feminine objects. • 6. The Importance Of Expository Reading Expository text is a very important form of reading material that is used to present content in different ways. Starting as early as kindergarten, children should be able to identify the main topic, ask and answer questions, and describe connections between two different pieces of information (Roehling, Hebert, Nelson, Bohaty, 2017). Teachers have problems with studentsreading expository text. It is sometimes more difficult to read than just regular story reading. Hebert, Bohaty, Nelson, and Brown conducted a metaā€“analysis on text structure instruction, concluding that it was an effective way to improve expository reading comprehension (Roehling, Hebert, Nelson, Bohaty, 2017). Different strategies were developed to help with understanding expository reading comprehension. Teachers play a big role in helping the students understand. They have to begin with clear learning objectives that outlines the skills teachers want their students to demonstrate by the end of the instruction (Roehling, Hebert, Nelson, Bohaty, 2017). Once the teacher decides on the learning objective, they can plan specific instructional strategies to help students achieve the objectives. If there is a clear goal from the teacher, things will be easier on the students. Identification strategies is a good start in recognizing the structure of an expository text. There are two possible goals of identification strategies: to recognize a single text structure or to discriminate among several possible text Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 8. Of Mice and Men Expository Essay Of Mice and Men Expository Essay John Steinback's Of Mice and Men is a book that describes the chase of the American Dream. Although achieving the American Dream is a great desire for all, seldom does it actually come true. George and Lennie, the two main characters in the book, have a goal of pursuing their version of the American Dream, as do many other characters. However, due to relationships and other conflicts, that dream is not achieved. If isolation does not make for good outcomes, than it would seem that its opposite, companionship, should. For instance, George and Lennie's dream only seems possible through their companionship and with the help of another friend, Candy. This is demonstrated where Steinback says, "They fell into a silence. They looked at one another, amazed. This thing they had never really believed in was coming true."(60). This quote shows that the "thing they had never really believed in" could happen through each other's contributions. Through companionship, each person would have to raise less money and therefore the dream could come true, and could come true faster. Things are often easier, quicker, and less painless when one has a partner to help them. It is only through their companionship that their dream seems possible. Once one of them is gone, the dream dies. This is shown in the passage that says, Now Candy spoke his greatest fear. "You an' me can get that little place, can't we, George? You an' me can go there an' live nice, can't we, George? Can't we?" Before George answered, Candy dropped his head and looked down at the hay. He knew. • 9. Expository Writing Rough Draft On School Kirk Zimmer Expository Writing Rough Draft Everything Wrong With School In 10 Minutes or Less! When I was twelve, I had no appreciation for school. I saw it as nothing more as a glorified daycare center with all the rules and regulations specifically designed to restrict as much fun as possible. Then one day in the ninth grade, I had a revelation: what if school was actually meant to build me up with knowledge and facts and not just waste my time? This was the foundation I needed to get me through the next four years. Whenever I was bored, I would remind myself that I 'd never have a "free" education like this again. I adapted particularly well to this system of tests, quizzes, and science labs but I could never understand the hang up some people had with it. School was basic and easy and all it seemed to require was consistency an+d proper scheduling. I looked at people who couldn 't understand US History or Geometry and I thought they were dumb. It wasn 't until much later with much more reflection that I came to conclude there 's a difference between how you score on the SATs and how smart you actually are. Education isn 't necessarily a direct line to becoming intelligent and knowledgeable; education is nothing more than an institution designed to equip people with subsets of specialized processing methodologies, algorithms, and a fair bit of esoteric trivia. Furthermore, the current educational system in place is inefficient because of its rigid nature. The current Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 11. Reflection Of Expository Writing Erwyn Suruy December 9, 2017 Eng 111 Reflective Essay I have been taking Expository Writing for 4 months. I have found that I need to be able to communicate myself in writing. I must relay exactly what I'm trying to put forth to others and convey the right message of understanding. I must be able to explain myself, negotiate, and work in teams. My language skills can be worked on and improved. I need to be able to pick up the language of whatever environment I'm in whether it be at work or school, or in society. Since everyone does not have the same background, learning how to write the written word is important in any environment. I have learned how to write and express myself, how to think for myself, and how to find answers to things I do not know. Most important I have learned how to believe in my writing. I was very hesitant in taking this English class, I have not taken an English class in many years. When I took the placement test for reading and English, I tested out of all categories. I was proud of myself for that feat. When I found I was going to have to take a college level English class, I avoided it at all costs. Too much pressure. However, I have learned about the Rhetorical Essay was to understand how an author writes and not focus on what the content is. Knowing the explanation of what techniques and author uses to make their point come across to the intended audience. I learned about Argumentative Research Paper is to debate both sides of an issue. The intent is to be unbiased and state the facts on either side. I learned about Public Piece with Presentation is meant to deliver an effective presentation to engage your audience. Your audience listens to not only what you are saying but your visual engagement in the topic being presented. Also, the point of the class is to be able to work with others to achieve a desired outcome or task. To know that I can work with others in a cohesive environment to draw on everyone's input and views. This will assist me in the real work of life and assist in handling many types of people and myself in communicating. I have never been a good writer; however, I have learned that communication is not the same when writing. Having a conversation about aliens Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy through removal of the embryo or fetus. I support abortion for the following reasons. Birth control failure, unable to support or care for a child, to prevent a child with birth defects or medical conditions, and a pregnancy in resulting from rape or incest. A woman should have the right to do what she pleases with her own body. For example, say a woman is pregnant with no desire of keeping the child and there was no clinic to help her remove the fetus. She's most likely going to obtain matters into her own hands and figure a way to abort the fetus herself. Why put women in that situation when they have highly trained doctors who can remove the fetus using the proper tools with no harm done to the mother?...show more content... • 13. Expository Essay: Chapter 1-6 The chapter starts off with a quote by one of the greatest poets, Robert Frost, and he says, "But God's own descent into flesh was meant as a demonstration" (Yancey 127). When I read the whole quote, I was really confused. I did not understand it. The first three lines, however, I could understand. God became human, which could be a demonstration. He took on the form of flesh because he wanted to show the world that the Savior was here to save us. The only way he can save us is if he became one of us. Therefore, God becoming a human could be a demonstration. I agree with Yancey when he wonders how different the world would be ifJesus did not resurrect from the dead (128). WouldChristianity still exist today? Would the apostles still be afraid of spreading the Good News? There are so many questions about what would happen if Jesus did not resurrect himself from the dead, but those questions will never be answered because Jesus did resurrect from the dead and saved us. One thing I found interesting in this chapter was when an angel asked the apostles, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand here looking into the sky?" (Yancey 129). • 14. Expository Essays : Unwind By Neal Shusterman When you think of unwinding, you probably imagine yourself sun tanning and drinking a martini on the beach. You probably see all of your worries disappear and paradise is very nearly near. In the breathtaking novel Unwind by Neal Shusterman, the teens of the world feel anything but relieved when they hear the word. Instead, they envision a world in which they no longer exist. At least, not in the way they used to. Unwind is a novel set in a dystopian society in a future time period, suffering the after effects of the Hartland War. The war was between the Pro ā€“life and Proā€“choice sides of society. A compromise was reached post war; it was called unwinding. Unwinding allowed teens to be harvested for all of their body parts. This novel tells the tale of three main teens who are to be sacrificed for unwinding. Risa, Connor and Lev struggle to stay out of sight until their 18th year when they will be considered free citizens. In Unwind, the story makes one question why a society would even consider something as radical and inhumane as unwinding. From it, we can connect to times in our own history when we made less than ideal compromises and evaluate the concept of unwinding as a whole. Unwinding seemed to me, in a word, disgusting, and that is exactly what it was. Evaluating such a crime was not hard to do. In fact, while reading this novel I found myself rather angry at the government of these people. I despised them for even thinking up such a thing as horrendous as to delete a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Instant Gratification And Its Effect On Society Instant gratification is something that everybody is used to nowadays. Whether wanting to find an answer to a question, needing to add numbers together or finding out if a pregnancy test is positive, answers come instantly. Most people do not realize that earlier generations did not have those answers available in the blink of an eye. People had to wait for things. They had patience and realized that not everything in the world is instant. Society now demands that everything should happen right away and we should not have to wait for anything, but that is making the world full of impatient, entitled people. Since most people do not know what it's like to not have instant gratification most individuals take that for granted. Instant gratification has caused a lot of problems in society, including taking away faceā€“toā€“face communication, patience, and certainty. Problems With Living in a Society With Instant Gratification Instant gratification has become the social norm in this generation but is diminishing the quality of communication. Cell phones have changed massively in the past few years, making communication weaken each time cell phones are updated. At first, cell phones were just used for calling. Calling was the only operation that they were capable of and most of the time calling was not even convenient on a cell phone. Although the concept of texting has been out for decades, actual texting became available to all society in 1994 (Turrettini). Texting instantly Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. You ever hear someone say they have swagger? A lot of times people's swagger is determined from their style. For example, everyone has a specific style of fashion. If you put on some cargo shorts with a tank top and slides you're probably not going to a job interview. Just like anything else, writing has different expressions. Writing is a form of communication; the person is writing to inform, persuade, describe, or tell a story. There are four main types of writing styles, expository, persuasive, descriptive, and narrative. We then choose what we want to read according to our interest in each category. In this type of writing the writer uses choice words in a cohesive manner in order to "sway" or persuade the reader. You will most commonly come across this type of writing in advertisement. With that being said, persuasive writing is all around us. This type of communication may consist of the writer's opinions, but the best form also includes facts to back up his or her statements. With attempts to get consumers to purchase specific products, we see persuasive writings all around us in today's world. "The battlefield had a cold malevolent air to it, the wind howling past you in every which way, as if trying to express its own confusion at the sudden seizeā€“fire. I, myself, was confused. One minute the bullets were raining holy hell down on us in a neverā€“ending bombardment, and the next, nothing." An anonymous soldier gives detailed picture of a battlefield scene. Descriptive writing, often used to portray a vivid, detailed experience, person, place, or thing, is third of the writing styles. This style of writing requires strong observation skills to convey the writer's point of view. In personal stories, you tend to see a lot of descriptive writing because it's the writer's story. • 17. The Effects of Radiation Essay The Effects of Radiation Radiation is the emission of electromagnetic energy that is given off in the form of high speed particles that cause ionization. During ionization radiation hits and knocks electrons from an atom creating charged ions. Due to the electron being stripped away from the atom this break the chemical bond. Living tissue within the human body is damaged and attempts to repair it but sometimes the damage is beyond repair. Radiation can either be ionizing or nonā€“ionizing depending on how the radiation itself affects matter. Nonā€“ionizing radiation includes visible light, heat, microwaves, and radio waves. This particular type of radiation deposits energy in the materials that it passes through but cannot break...show more content... When you pick up a magazine or examine a newspaper article on the newsstand, you are reading a form of exposition because the author's main purpose of writing that article or essay is to inform the reader about a topic. In the classroom, many students are required to produce research papers about a specific topic, such as migration patterns of birds. The purpose of that research paper is to inform the reader, the teacher, about what are the migratory patterns of birds. Finally, at the workplace, many people are required to create business reports and memorandums to inform their supervisors and coā€“workers about the company's finances and progress. It is also concise because it does not include any irrelevant information pertaining to avoiding burning or freezing the guest. Lastly, "How to Operate the Shower Curtain" acknowledges common mistakes, such as "REMEMBER TO KEEP SHOWER CURTAIN INSIDE TUB AT ALL TIMES!" (Frasier 303).
